That account was banned because he basically outed himself as a sock puppet account of someone who was previously banned. They still haven't found mine though, lol.

They did some stupid bannings back in the format war heyday.

Huh . . . this is interesting. Hopefully a non-schizo review comes out soon. I'd like to know whether this is worth the double dip.

Blu-ray.com review of the UK edition is up:

T2 Skynet UK Blu-ray.com Review

Are they using the same transfer for US edition as well?

Pro-B, thanks for the review and I have a question for ya, hopefully you have an answer.
How different is this release from the French BD (the 2 discs edition) that came out last Oct or Nov regarding the PQ and AQ. Have you had the chance to watch/review this release? Thanks.

I might guess that the US Skynet BD will have better PQ. I read somewhere on another forum that it's a higher bitrate encode than the UK Skynet BD, and that makes sense considering the UK, German, and French discs have those multiple language options.

Hopefully we will know tonight...

P.S. Why it there a German DTS-MA 7.1 track on a UK disc? I mean, did they have to port everything over all three international versions? If so, how come the French lose out with only DTS-HD HR?

Looked around a little for this, but how big is the skull?

EDIT: Finally found my own answer at the best buy site: 14"

...trying to decide on this one now...

Such a shame the release has been DNR'd to death.

Has it? They didn't make a new master or anything, so I don't think there would be a big difference compared to the other Blu-Rays out there.

Like i said previously. This release have not really been DNR. DNR was applied at source when the CGI Team processed the movie. This is not the only movie that have suffered this way of early CGI. The only way to remove it completly would be to bring the original element and re-render everything with fake grain (like they did with TOS in some case). Since they couldn't do that in 1991. They smoothed the film down to a point that CGI was not apparent. Today they can match grain pattern of the film (or noise if it's digitally shot) or they added more noise/grain to the whole movie

That's interesting, I was not aware that the technique was applied at that time. Good to know when it comes to placing blame.

Good morning ArieS,

Unfortunately, I have not seen the French BD release that came out last October and cannot comment how the Skynet Edition compares to it. I would think that it is nowhere near as good though, given that aside from the noise filtering, which is the main issue with the Skynet Edition, there are a number of dramatic improvements that are very noticeable on a larger than 50' screen.

Good morning to you too McCrutchy:

The reason why the Skynet Edition boasts a German DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 dub is because it is marketed for sale in Germany, France and the United Kingdom (this is a co-release between the German Kinowelt, the French Studio Canal and the British Optimum Releasing). In fact, you could entirely set up the menu interfaces in either English, German, or French. (By the way, one of the reasons why the disc offers Turkish subtitles is because there is an extremely large Turkish community in Germany).

All in all, the Skynet Edition is far better than the old Lionsgate release!!

I hope this helps and please do not hesitate to ask if you should have any other questions.

Pro-B

Look at the screenshots for this sites reviews. You can see the scenes with no visual effects compositing had less detail and way less grain then the original release.

The original UK release has more film grain than the Skynet version.

The only version up for review now is the region B. The US version will be reviewed soon enough. I'm just as anxious as you are.
