I never thought about this before, and not to go into too many different scenarios, but if the egg came first and if what hatched from the egg was a chicken, then I'd say they arrived simultaneously!

LOL. That's a good way to look at it. I always thought the egg came first, because reptiles, dinosaurs, and insects were using them before chickens evolved onto the scene.

I might just pick up the T2 disc after all. and T4 was awesome! saw an advance screening.

They're only asking $15-$20 for the single disc in most places.. I'd say it's easily worth it.
Where have you seen it for $15?

Egg and Chicken lying in bed. The Chicken who is sweating, turns round to the Egg and says "I supposed that answered that question then"

Bill has posted a third update, where he explicitly talks about the finer detail visible in the Japanese release, and possible explanations for how some level of DNR may have occurred.

Again - not saying the Skynet edition is bad, it looks pretty good and is maybe just a hair lower than the Japanese edition in my opinion. But the whole "all that detail is actually just video noise, so the Skynet one is the best" baloney is just that - baloney.

This was my first DVD or BD of Terminator 2 and I was impressed, the whole sequence from the liquid nitrogen truck to the end looks great!

I watched the theatrical version but it's nice to have the extended version at my disposal. Prepare for load times though, about 2-3 minutes on my LG BD player to get to the menu.

I do wonder. I mean why does the Japanese version and original UK version show that same detail....yet the Skynet doesn't?

Interestingly enough, according to another forum, the bitrates are all extremely close so I'm not seeing how the higher bit rate making the difference either.

Geneon Japan "SE" Cut: 21.94Mbps AVC
Lionsgate USA Skynet "SE" Cut: 19.28Mbps VC-1
Lionsgate USA Original TC: 18.92Mbps MPEG-2
StudioCanal UK/FR/etc "SE" Cut: 18.90Mbps VC-1

From High-Def Digest:

Under Version, then under play special edition, there is a space for a skynet unlock code. Enter 82997 and you unlock the extended special edition of the movie. Thanks to Joey Robinson for the tip!

Ok, I was just scanning through my Skynet Edition version and I have just one thing to say...

Are these the same compressionist who did FACE/OFF?

Oh my goodness this looks terrible, I mean this is really bad looking!!! No fine detail at all. What were the thinking?

Can I call BS on Lionsgate saying there is no-DNR? Ha, that's a joke!! I swear there is more fine detail on my old DVD at 480p than this!! The shame is that the colors looked pretty decent.

The loading times are painfully slow and the menus are really clunky and confusing.

Anyway at least the picture and audio quality are noticeable better than the previous BD.

BTW don't even bother with T2 BD-Live so far there is nothing to see. Not even some trailers.

PS: My copy is the one released by Studio Canal (steelbook), in the menu it says 6.1 DTS-HD Master Audio but my BD player and my onkyo receiver only reads 5.1 DTS-HD MA
I use a HDMI cable ver 1.3a So I don't think that's the problem.

Anyone experiencing the same issue?

K, so I'm kind of a blu-ray noob, but my T2 disc is taking excruciatingly long to start. I waited over 5 minutes for the movie to start before giving up. The menu took forever as well. What does this mean? Should I upgrade my firmware or something?

I am afraid it's something normal. In my BD Player (Sony S350) T2 took nearly 4 min to load the 1st time, now only takes 3 minutes or so!

However you should always upgrade your BD player's firmware.

Well, I upgraded my firmware, and it still takes a while for the menu to load. However, the movie actually started up pretty much right away, so I'm relieved. Thanks for the help.

The THX trailer on this disc is pretty cool. Especially the 96khz DTS-MA audio track with it!

I've made it through half the movie (finishing the other half now). I have no complaints about PQ (other than the softness that the picture has inherently), but MAN are the menus clunky. The Skynet concept is interesting, but the whole "initialization" and connection to the internet thing has gotten very old on the third time loading the disc. Then when you select the Extended Special Edition, there's no way (at least that I've found) to skip chapters in this version until you actually start the film, and you HAVE to sit through three studio logo trailers before the film starts and you're given this option. It literally took four minutes for me to resume watching where I left off last night. Apparently this one doesn't save your place

PQ and AQ are good though The special effects still put some modern films to shame.
