Why can't all Blus do that?!?!

? If so, I agree.

How about that dts-HD Master Audio intro before that? I had my speakers up a bit too loud when it started playing, but boy was that a nice treat. I hadn't heard or seen that before on any movie.

THe addition of the 96khz THX trailer was cool and a great idea!!! But i honestly have to say I was very disappointed with the PQ, It looks like an upconverted DVD, I own the previous addition as well, the skynet version is worth the upgrade because of the sound, extras and the different versions of the film, but if you are looking for a PQ upgrade, im not so sure you will be impressed. For the life of me I cant understand why in the world if they were going to spend the time giving us a new transfer why it couldnt have been a reference transfer, if there is any movie that deserves it, it is T2. "Hellrasier", which came out in 1987, gives it a run for its money in PQ and "Bladerunner" in 1982, blows T@ out of the water. They really took the easy buck on this one. Bastards!

Yeah thats the one. There is also an option to watch just it in the special features.

That other DTS trailer is cool too, but I had seen it before on a DTS demo disc.

The dts was new to me, as was the THX obviously. Both were rockin', though!

just because a movie was shot in the same year or similar timeframe doesn't mean it will look as good (or bad) as others. all depends on film stock, camera choice, lighting conditions, etc. of each specific movie. if you take the time to read about what went into the new skynet transfer, maybe you'll appreciate it more, and even if you don't, then whatev. T2 is a great movie and while the PQ for the skynet may be disappointing to some, it will likely never reach reference quality because of how it was shot. that's that.

Indeed. I agree it is not reference quality, but it is by no means terrible! It is pretty good.

Anyone experiencing the same issue?
ME TOO! I have a Denon 7.1 Hi-Def Receiver and it reads 5.1! I was starting to think I musta got a bunk copy. I'm glad someone around here noticed this as well. You just saved me a trip back to the store.

As far as the argument over PQ (at least back on the pages I've been reading for the last half hour or so), maybe it depends on your TV & player. Mine (a 55" Samsung Luxia LED 6000 & a Samsung BD-P3600) are equipped with BD-Wise which makes the picture even better than the PS3 did on the same TV with the same HDMI cable! I noticed a much improved picture over the earlier BD. I even get a near fantastic picture outta "Total Recall" with this set up!

Both Hellraiser's and Blade Runner's negatives have more area per picture height than T2 due to the shoting format. Hellraiser' is 11.33 mm per picture height vs T2's 10mm, and Blade Runner was shot on true anamorphic Scope which due to the 2X lens compression uses a negative almost twice the height plus it had the SFX done in 70mm.

What a killer deal on this BD. But about that gift card, I got one with my LE LOTR DVD's a few years ago, looked online at the selection of collectibles and would you believe that most of that stuff was upwards of $200 USD? Also, away from that, I've read a lot of reports from review sites and posters here that the video doesn't look any different than the previous BD edition and I couldn't disagree more. It looks phenomenally different than the previous. I'd say with the audio, which to me was less of a jump than the video, and the video, this upgrade is well worth regular price, much less the $10 I payed for it (I also used some RZ certificates).

Here's how people have described the differences on Wiki between the different T2 editions:

"The special edition has been the same from release to release, with all the scenes that Cameron reinserted intact. There are, however, two scenes that Cameron shot but chose not to reinsert into the film which have been included as an accessible extra on most "Special Edition" releases. The first scene shows the T-1000's tactile approach to acquiring information about the physical world, "scanning" John's room with its fingertips, and eventually finding a hidden shoebox containing pictures and tapes of Sarah, seen at the end of the first film. The second scene is an alternate ending set in 2027 with an aged Sarah Connor reflecting on how Judgment Day was averted. The addition of these scenes is the only difference between the "Special Edition" and the "Extended Special Edition". This version can be accessed by pressing 8, 2, 9, 9, 7 (based on August 29, 1997, the date of Judgment Day) on the main menu of the DVD. The Easter egg is only functional on the Ultimate Edition DVD (no longer produced); however, these scenes can be accessed at a certain point in the film with the interactive mode on the Extreme DVD. In addition, the Extreme edition contains several Easter eggs, which include access to the theatrical version of the movie and a preview for the Ultimate Edition DVD.

The Extreme edition DVD has several DVD-ROM features, including Infiltration Unit Simulator and T2 FX Studio, an application where images of a person can be imported and morphed into a T-800 or T-1000, and Skynet Combat Chassis Designer, a program where viewers could build a fighting machine and be able to track progress online.[17] The Extreme DVD also contains a WMV-HD theatrical edition of T2, where the film can be watched, for the first time, in Full HD 1080p format."

Its listed at 179.99 which is really steep, but wouldn't mind getting it for collection purposes.
Amazon.com has it for $115.99.
