This extra isn't available on any DVD or BD of T2 due to copyright / money reasons. You have to get the LD box set, or a quick search of the web for a rip.

Isn't james Cameron re-mastering the first and second films again? I've been patiently waiting on them since 2007.

You kidding?

I have the Skynet Edition (steelbook ) and it looks glorious. The only fault is the very very obvious stunt doubles for Furlong and Arnie during the bike/truck chase scene. It's laughable. It wasn't as noticeable in SD but it completely takes you out of the moment in HD.

If Cameron could fix that then another release would be justified. He probably wants to 3D it up though.

Firstly, I don't think Cameron is a big part of Terminator releases, I believe because they make new ones the series is 'dead' to him.

Secondly, I too noticed the obviousness of the spillway scene. Especially the double for arnie coming off the top and 'bouncing'. But if you were to have watched it theatrically in 1991 im sure it was as obvious then, too.

Standards in 'matching' doubles back then wasn't that big of a deal. It was known they used stunt doubles and "actors doing their own stunts" or stuff appearing flawlessly integrated just wasnt a stigma until more action flicks in the 90's were made. And obviously its REALLY two of the hardest people to double for :P Arnie, and a preteen kid.

IMO, if cameron is still involved in terminator home entertainment, and he were to convert T1 and T2 into extensive remastered transfer/3D ready, I'd want him to fix up minor issues digitally. Such as of course, mask stuntmen faces with the actors face, and perhaps enhancing some of the 80's effects in T1.

In response to the question about extras...

They are rubbish on the Skynet edition as they can only be viewed as Picture in Picture while the main film is on. Quite why they thought this was a good idea instead of having stand-alone extras is beyond me.

However, I very rarely watch any extras, and the transfer alone on this edition makes it well worth a purchase - I've simply never seen T2 look so good before! Linda in HD...

The UK release has much better PQ without all the unnecessary DNR....none of the characters look like wax figures in that version.

Agreed, the UK and JPN releases are much better than either US release.

They are marginally better. Until a new master with a fresh scan come along, you're talking a 18% improvement in PQ. I'm crazed so I bought them all, but clearly, we're not talking different masters here, just different encoding.
A new 2011 or 2012 scan will render all the old one obsolete.

It's true that they're from the same master, but the DNR that mars the Skynet release makes its' PQ much less desirable than the transfer on the UK version....and I have both as well.

Well, I have the UK Skynet edition, and I have to say that I was very, very impressed with the transfer. No, it doesn't have GI Joe levels of sharpness, colour and contrast, but seriously, the film has never looked better. I was actually very pleasantly surprised when I saw it as I wasn't expecting much from it at all.

Although it's true that it has never looked better, that's not exactly the gripe that everyone has. Many films look better on Blu-ray, especially when compared to their DVD counterpart, but is 'good enough' really what we got into Blu-ray for to begin with?

So there is a chance of getting an even better version of the original two? I've been waiting since 2007. I already gave up on the RoboCop franchise because they took too long and sold my DVD's without a blu-ray replacement.

Mr. Cameron, please don't make me do the same to two of the best sci-fi's ever made.

Hey guys, are there any defective T2 Skynet Edition Blu-rays out there?

Cuz the sound on mine doesn't come through On my receiver it's listed as DTS-HD Master Audio 6.1 ESX.

Basically, it's ridiculously long and I can't get sound to come through.

I have several 7.1 blu-rays (P:War Zone, The Expendables, The Running Man, RAMBO, Hellboy II) and one other 6.1 (X3). I've had no problems with any other Blu-ray.

Thanks again guys

Doubtful..."T2" has already been released several times on Blu, so there won't be anything new for a while, if at all. Plus, I personally thought the Skynet release was a step down from the 2006 release (due the the DNR factor). As for "T1," the picture quality on that was a little better than the DVD, but not by much. Plus, considering the film's low budget origins and the way it was shot, I don't think it'll ever look much better than it did on the first Blu release. To be honest, I'd have been perfectly happy with the Blu release of the first "Terminator," had the original mono audio track been included. As it is, I'm quite happy with my Special Edition DVD of the original film, and the 2006 Blu of "T2." I will not be rebuying either film, unless if and when a new "T1" release comes out, I can get it for $5 or so.

T1 have been freshly scanned in 4K for a future reissue. It WILL look better. Just see how Aliens looked before and how it looks now.
