True, but I've gone and rebought the old Optimum one anyway. The French theatrical would be my weapon of choice if it weren't for those forced subtitles. On the French HD DVD I could move them out of the image area, but I don't know if the Blu equivalent has the same provision so I'll stick with the £6 Optimum jobby.

Both of the previous Blu-Ray releases looked like crap compare to the remastered release. For the special features they used bits and pieces of footage from one of the older Blu-Ray versions and it looked completely over saturated and soft to me in comparsen.

I just recently purchased the Japanese Premium Edition & compared it to the UK Optimum that I own & the Japanese did look a lot better than the UK edition.

There's a night and day difference!!!! The new version of Total Recall is much cleaner looking, and sharp.

You guys hear about the Kickstarter campaign to preserve the T2 pinball game in Pinball Arcade?

Pinball Arcade: Terminator 2 Judgment Day by FarSight Studios

Hope it succeeds. Would love to play this table again. One of the best ever!

Does anyone know what is the picture like in that Korean Steelbook?
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_saca...lbook&LH_BIN=1

Is it the same with the Japanese Bluray?
It seems cheaper than the Japanese

On the back it says that it's VC-1, so it's definitely not identical to the Japanese, which is AVC.

Thumbs down

Hm, I just watched "Terminator" and "T2" for the first time on the last two nights and while the first looks pretty great, the second looks like it's been almost as scrubbed as 'Predator'... Is that the case or was it just a very tight and clean film-print?? I can't believe the video got a 4 out of 5, because it's more like a 7 or 6 out of 10 if you ask me. Not very impressed with the quality, definitely not "THX-worthy".

Speaking of which, the THX-optimizer is nonsense as well. It just looks like the one that came on DVD-releases such as 'Titanic', except upconverted to HD or something. How can I trust a calibration-thing that has washed out blacks as backgrounds? Anyway, when I calibrate it to those test-screens, I have to put my Plasma its Brightness to -9, which makes the blacks clip. And on this screen of mine, with most things, it starts clipping black at around 0, so I call major BS. At -9 it removed the glare off of Termo's shades, what's thát about?

Anyway, enough about that... I'm kind of baffled that they put such sub-par video on such a huge hit-movie, and a James Cameron film at that, labeling it "THX Certified" as well. No way he had any control over this, the tech-obsessed perfectionist he is.

Well, sorry if this has been discussed 100 times over, just my 2 Dollars... Just expected a lot better. If ónly it was as grainy as "Terminator", instead of this smooth-looking paste-fest. :P Underwhelming extras too, unless I overlooked something. I guess I'd need to buy the version with the head for that, but I'm not going to blow so much cash on a movie I'm not even the biggest fan of. How about a nice 2-BD release huh? I want extensive documentaries. They must be out there...

Oh, one other thing though; Did anyone ever have the menu pretending it was going to play a video, but then just got stuck on a black screen, with the time-bar just being stuck at the end of a 20-second "thing" (I guess the menu-loop)? I had this twice. One time I could get out of it, the second time I couldn't do anything but stop the disc or turn off the player...

The Terminator was given a brand new extensive remaster just last year which is why it looks terrific, while T2 is yet to receive that kind of treatment and thus regardless of the Blu-Ray edition you buy (and there's plenty out there), they all use the same old dated master that's at least 10 + years old by now. As poor as they are, none of the Blu-Rays of T2 are anywhere near as bad as the Predator Ultimate Hunter Edition (not even the extra filtered Skynet Edition), but yes T2 needs a lot of work. When they get off their ass and do it, expect T2 to look even better then The Terminator.

+1

T2 would look ever better than T1 on Blu-Ray if it was given the same treatment seeing as it was shot with a bigger budget, better cameras and I think better film stock as well.

Was T2 shot on 35mm like T1?

The current T2 BD transfers are also contrast boosted as well, there's some serious highlight clipping going on in some scenes.

Ah, I see. Got it. I vaguely remember reading that in discussions of the Blu-ray of the first that I have. Good thing I got that version then.

I didn't mean that it literally looks like 'Predator' though, but it went into that direction, it just has that soft smoothed out look to it.
I still enjoyed the ride though. I've never been very familiar with this movie, although I knew it from bits and pieces and sheer popularity.
The video never distracted me too much, but, I do know it would've pulled me in more if the image had more depth to it. Now it was just running more on its good movie-making and cinematography and visuals and scenes, which says something about the movie of course.

But yea, I would expect "T2" to look better since, like I said, it's the bigger film first of all, and on top of that, it had a bigger budget and probably allowed for better quality in every regard. Maybe Cameron (or a studio) is waiting for a specific time to release this? Apparently there will be a "Terminator 5", so maybe they're waiting to get that movie to promote the re-release of "T2". Then again, that would probably take years, and Cameron probably won't be involved.

Meh, I guess he's too busy with his Avatar-sequels... Which I'm pretty curious about, but... I think fans of "T2" are waiting (for the remaster, not "T5").
Don't let them down. lol

Post Question regarding the audio for this release of terminator 2 skynet edition

i had a quick question.does the release of this film have a spanish audio option, if not where can i acquire one that does have the audio in spanish. i think if we are going to spend a certain amount of money for a bluray all of them should include mutiple types of audio , including a spanish audio.

well thanks if any one can confirm my question would truly appreciate it.

The US Skynet edition does not have Spanish audio, only subtitles. Unless the cover and dvdprofiler are both wrong, but both are showing me French is the only other audio option.
