It might actually be cheaper to use two BD25s.

Good ole Media Blasters, never change. Glad I didn’t buy it.

It genuinely surprises me that Media Blasters still exist today, they're like a cockroach. That SDBD with hardsubs just screams lazy and cheap effort.

At least it has lossless audio.

Looking at Pika’s screencaps it doesn’t look too bad, but if Justin was given the material it would’ve turned out better (but probably without lossless audio)

Default Fireworks US GKids release

Rather high bitrate. They probably didn't get the brightness right, I figure.

Also, it’s the theatrical version- not the updated Blu-ray version with improved animation (that was in the Japanese release by Aniplex). This is the same encode as what AL used, I believe...

They updated the animation for the Blu-ray? I can see that for rushed tv shows but this was a theatrical movie wasn't it? Shouldn't they have already done the best they could?

It’s SHAFT. They’ve been doing this forever because of poor scheduling during production.

The Monogatari TV series (as in multiple- all of them)- absolutely. In fact, Bakemonogatari ALONE had 2270 individual changes! The Kizumonogatari films? Not sure. Those had great scheduling and because each one was less than 90 minutes, it worked out great.

Every SHAFT show has this. At least since Shinbo took over (though he doesn’t direct everything there contrary to popular belief). Madoka. Sangatsu. Arakawa. Vampire Bund. Maria Holic. Nisekoi. They all have massive changes made to the BDs after the rushed TV versions.

While I do enjoy when studios fix stuff in the home video version if it looked bad in the broadcast version. I really hate how SHAFT just like to change things because they can half the time.

Only Nisekoi had questionable changes. Like as Ive only seen the BD Madoka what I know of original ep 1 it is nearly completely different. And I feel giving incentives to buy the BD isn't terrible. And the fact GKIDS didn't give us the BD master is why I aint buying it.

I read previous discussions about Sentai's 1080i Penguindrum, I know it was badly encoded now. But I didn't see anyone mention Dynit's Italian 1080p release, how about it?

Was thinking of getting the Glass Mask collection since is 50% off at Amazon.

Has anyone seen any screenshots and does anyone know if ADV/Sentai/Maiden Japan/Section 23/whatever the hell they call themselves these days still use those ridiculously huge yellow subtitles that even spill outside the 4:3 image?

You can sample it by watching it on HiDive via a web browser (not the mobile or STB app).

Edit: The outline on the subs will be thicker and easier to read on the disc release is the main difference.
