Oh nice! Thanks . My new settings i put on my tv from avsforum drastically reduced the banding and rain-bowing of the first disc that i just tested to see if the 10 point settings did anything different my old settings. I got a Sony 900e bravia .

MOTHERF**KER!!! It's not as bad as Part 1, but damn. I can spot some kind of banding in every frame.

This is still a 1/10 transfer, IMO. Every cap there has some kind of artifact, be it severe or minor. That level of technical incompetence is... well, I'm speechless. It's sh*t, to put it bluntly. Unless Kadokawa actually tampered with their materials, there is NO way something that bad should be released...

That screenshot made me realize my gamma settings on my desktop we're really off lol. It looked less bad on my phone and laptop.

I'm glad the second part is a marked improvement over the utterly incompetent disaster the first part was, but this is still far from ideal.

In terms of number ranks, I wouldn't give it professorwho's 1/10 (that's closer to what the previous release was), but this release is no higher than a 4 or 5/10. "Better than streaming" is not a high mark to clear, people.

Yeah I looked back at Part 1 comparisons and they are definitely way worse.

Screenshots from The Night is Short, Walk On Girl. This is one of the "good" Shout Factory releases.

Looking back, Part 2 of Re:Zero really isn’t a 1/10 transfer. I’d more likely give it a 3/10 based on those caps.

Also, those Night is Short caps don’t look bad at all. Better than the UK/FR BD, that’s for sure. (Unless I’m missing something- as I’m on mobile) Nice on Shout. The JP release was a maxed out transfer at 39 mbps, so I’m assuming Shout did something similar. Probably 35 mbps or higher.

hu... no there is quitte a lot of banding on thses screenshots... I'm sorry but that release is not "better" than th UK/FR release in my opinon, both of them show heavy banding on some scenes.

if this : https://i0.wp.com/doblu.com/wp-conte...h29m24s854.jpg is ok for you then I think there is a problem... (Banding + macroblocking).

JP BD has a noticeable amount of banding in the same scene (Check screenshot 6). The screenshot in the review is a compressed jpeg, probably at 70%-80%.

I'll have to think about which version to get.

I said I was on mobile. It’s harder to notice it with a smaller screen.

It isn’t okay for me, so there is no problem. Now viewing on a PC monitor, it’s visible as day. (I generally don’t judge screenshots on my phone, but because I wasn’t at home, it wasn’t 100% accurate.) I’m no hypocrite. That isn’t that great.

(I always feel a rush to post my impressions, just because of anxiety and all that psychological stuff, and this is the price I pay for it.)

I’m not trying to play the victim card, nor use mental issues as an excuse- it’s just that phone displays suck due to their size (and zooming in doesn’t help).

[Show spoiler]F**k. It’s the little things in life that annoy me- and rushing to post flawed impressions is one. I guess I’d better learn to cope with this, as I’ll die way sooner if I don’t.

Why does Funimation always have the lowest quality release? Do they have zero quality control or is it what japan sends them? It's like every time you hear about something wrong with an anime blu-ray release quality wise, no surprise when you find out funimation is involved.

They just don't give a shit. Their business model relies on huge hits such as Dragon Ball Z or whatever, which gives them a rabid fanbase that couldn't care less about such snobbish things as video quality. There's simply no reason for them to invest in any sort of quality assurance.
