I know this is an old post I'm responding to, but does anyone know if the Orphen SD on BD blu-rays have this problem?

Are there any differences between Diskotek's original DVD release of the first season of Lupin III and the later thinpack release?
I'm especially interested in quality and number of discs but I also vaguely recall that the later version might not have the pilot short. |

This stuff is missing, and there's only one version of the pilot film instead of 2. Seek out the original release if you can.

I do not actually have these, so this is speculation BUT I do have a HIDIVE account. The stream they have there is demonstrating the offending blending/interlacing problem. Other series with frameblending / interlacing BRs also have that issue on the stream, like Di Gi Charat. |

The only reason to really grab that release is for this unreleased special. Don't know why MAL is using the VIZ DVD cover as it wasn't on the DVDs.
https://myanimelist.net/anime/8422/V...ai_no_Portrait BTW, if you pick up the DVDs instead, pick up the singles if you can, they're the only release that didn't use those stupid DVD-10 double-sided discs. |

I didn't have a problem with any of the discs in my copy of the set.

Does anyone know if there are any difference in the video quality between the pioneer dvd release of 3x3 eyes and the later Geneon dvds? For that matter, how the Korean dvd looks by comparison?

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Madman BD vs Aniplex/Funimation/Anime Limited UK BDs
Pretty competent release from Madman. Madman's x264 encode retains more detail in hectic scenes than IMAGICA's encoding work for the Aniplex release. However, Madman's BD has a horizontal line pattern banding here and there (see #2), just like in their Promised Neverland release, but it should be noted that this is likely some kind of source issue. The Madman BD uses the proper home video version btw. https://slow.pics/c/JIiN7zeh Madman ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Aniplex ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Episode 01 Madman Code:

The Japanese audio track of episode 26 has a problem. The left channel is ~6.5dB softer in relation to the right channel. Also, Part 1 Japanese track is softer than on Aniplex BD, but that and the 16-bit audio on both parts are minor issues in comparison to ep 26.

It's been a few months, but there's site reviews for non-GKIDS releases. The last ones were the Beyond the Boundary releases in August.

Lupin the 3rd Part V: Misadventures in France - Discotek Media BD vs VAP BD
The average bitrates on both are at around the same level, but the Discotek Media BD is definitely an improvement over the Japanese release. Better compression, less banding. There are however some chroma ringing artifacts that were carried over from the master which also appeared on the Japanese Blu-ray (check the reds). Last 4 Discotek Media BD screenshots show the great care that was put into the signs. Very good release overall.
