Hopefully it's a sign he's finally taking feedback, but Neil's 4 most recent reviews don't mention "STREAMING" at all, except once in To Your Eternity to mention who had the license. Hopefully this lasts, last time I saw this, he went like a month without mentioning it, then we got "STREAMING, BAD! Blu-ray, GOOD!" There's still some problems with these (copy/paste from a template), but they're reading more naturally as a result (though still robotic at times).

Giving Boruto a 4/5 is fine as it probably is slightly better than CR given the Jojo authoring house works on it, but giving To Your Eternity a 4/5 for Video Quality??? HELLO??? The video for that is hot ass and so much worse than CR. Gamma issue as well as a shed load of really noticeable banding and compression artifacts not present in the CR web encode. Even frames where it should mop the floor with CR it loses massively. I would love to post more but it was so bad that I just deleted the BD.

I didn't look too closely at screenshots, only skimmed the wording after I saw zero results for "STREAMING" when I typed that in doing ctrl+f, but yeesh. How many VIZ Media Blu-rays over the past 5+ years aren't dumpster fires?

Side-note, how did Levius compare to Netflix? This review had me bursting out laughing late last year given how he kept talking about Blu-ray ALWAYS being better than STREAMING in every review.
Quote:
Levius Blu-ray, Video Quality 3/5

Released on Blu-ray by VIZ Media, Levius is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high-definition in the streaming aspect ratio of 1.78:1 widescreen. The high-definition visuals are underwhelming to say the least. The transfer could look a lot better than it does. The encode looks similar to what I would expect to find from Netflix streaming. There is a ton of banding on the release. The image looks too compressed at times. The image doesn't have as crisp or detailed video as one might hope to find. Underwhelming. An average quality transfer at best. For those considering a purchase to get a superior presentation, it isn't going to impress and the release could be a lot better looking.

Levius Blu-ray, Overall Score and Recommendation 2.5/5

Levius isn't a total slam-dunk. The series has decent action and fans of the genre may find it worth checking out. The series is an overload of CG animation and it often looks unnatural and clunky.

An underwhelming transfer on the release. Plenty of banding and compression looks disappointing. Anyone considering a purchase who is hoping for superior video encoding to the Netflix stream should consider passing on the release altogether. Only series fans who want ownership should even remotely consider a purchase. RENT IT.

Suzume JPN UHD vs HKG UHD

Hong Kong UHD is ever so slightly cropped to remove the blurry letterbox edges. Chroma location is shifted.

The NLD BD uses theatrical master, so the difference probably stems from the color temperature conversion.

I noticed that the USA BD frequently has gray pixel artifacts in the lowest pixel row before the letterbox matte. It's not present on the Japanese release.

A certain Blu-ray.com anime reviewer: "One of the greatest benefits of the Blu-ray format is its continued advantage over streaming services. Streaming services feature lower bit-rates and continue to look inferior to Blu-ray discs. In the 18 years since Blu-ray was invented, not a single Blu-ray disc has looked inferior to streaming video services, which are affected by the bandwidth of everyone streaming video, streaming music, and streaming video games in the house all at the same time, resulting in inferior video quality and constant buffering. All these streaming services running at once lead to Blu-ray always looking superior to streaming video services such as Disney+ and Netflix [which this show isn't streaming on]."

Why are these folks allowed to get their hands on a lot of old anime and do what they did here? Brave Raideen, God Mars, Dorvack, and Mach Go Go Go also fell into their hands.

Not Blu-ray, but wanted to share anyway: Daft Punk recently shared some clips of the new Interstella 5555 remaster as shorts on their YouTube channel. Here’s what the “High Life” sequence looks like:

Not sure about video quality but it looks like they didn't make BD versions of any of the subs for on-screen text at all for GWitch. Both the sub and the dub just leave everything untranslated for both s1 and s2.
