Yeah, I'm up late. I do know they don't author them in Japan, and I'm aware of how bad the presentation of the Eupho 2 packaging is. I've been acting weird today, so maybe that's it...
Also, I think I heard somewhere the price difference wasn't that much, but I'll have to research it more and find a reliable source. Oh well. Time for bed for me. This is what happens when I'm late... my brain goes all bad. |

I own the discs and just checked last night. Total size for everything hovers around 30GB.

AL lists Eupho with the OVA + 7 bonus episodes which summed up are 21 minutes, basically 6 eopisodes on disc 2 + NCED and NCOP. I seriously hope disc 2 won't be a BD25

Kiznaiver was listed as a 9/3 split as well in the render but was actually a 6/6 split so here's hoping

So, can anyone post stats of the FUNi Yamato 2199 set?
It's on 2 BD-50s so it should look good. I can use it to compare to the Japanese and Italian releases. Thankfully, the Database has correct entries for the Japanese releases. Which has an average bitrate of 37.97 mbps with LPCM 2.0 24-Bit audio. The Italian release (the 2 set release by Dynit) is better, as it has mp3dom, and averages 39.35 mbps!, which is the highest bitrate I've seen on Blu-ray (other than that one disc that was done at a consistent 40 and couldn't play on some players, so that doesn't count). The only other 39 mbps bitrate disc I've heard of is Toho's The Night is Short, Walk on Girl at a whopping 39.01 mbps. No way can FUNi get close to mp3dom territory, but I'm sure Yamato 2199 looks okay. |

AVC implementations have been refined over the past couple years. These days a good multi-pass encoder in the hands of an experienced compressionist should yield excellent 1080p Blu-ray results in the 20-25mbps range. I suggest not falling prey to the pure numbers game. P.S. I am not saying that Funimations have not had issues in the past, they have had. |

When FUNi actually makes a good/great disc (like the first Hyouka one) once in a while, it's by accident.
The new trend of 6/6 splits that a few series have gotten might be signalling a change, but up until six months or so ago, FUNi only did good by happenstance. |

![]() FUNimation are idiots with monkeys running the show. They've made a few good looking releases, but 90% of their output has issues in terms of compression ranging from minor to OH MY GOD IT'S THE WORST BLU-RAY EVER. |

Things could well improve.
Funimation is now part of Sony and Sony Pictures films (especially on 4K Blu-ray) are bar-none the best in the business. We shall see if Blu-ray production for Funimation shifts from Texas to Los Angeles down the road. |

I recently watched Cowboy Bebop and Escaflowne Funimation releases. Both seem fine without any obvious obnoxious issues. But I do agree there have been some bad Funimation releases such as Lain and Stein's Gate. |

Escalowne looks amazing, but Bebop is bad. De-grained, then smeared, then re-grained with artifical grain. Plus, the 30fps stuff is slowed down, so there's interlacing artifacts.
Sentai is way better now. SNAFU 2 is practically flawless with zero compression artifacts whatsoever. Best western encode anime BD I've seen. Worst FUNi release is either Psycho Pass Season 1, Steins;Gate, or Re:Zero. Fitting how shows I hate get bad Blu-rays... but it still sucks that they're abominations of the Blu-ray format. |
