Checked out Chunibyo.

Despite having more room to breathe than Haikyu, the compression blocking here sticks out a bit more. It ranges from slight to moderate, though nothing too severe. Banding also pops up a little more than I would have liked in several scenes but again, nothing too severe, also moderate at worst. Spotted some aliasing as well but only in a few scenes, negligible for the most part.

Overall, despite some disappointment, pq looks good. It's a definite improvement over past crap I've seen from Sentai.

As for stats, the 9eps on disc 1 were each given 4.5GB | around 4gb for the video and 500mb for the audio.

But yeah, I made the mistake of writing this one off (without even watching a single ep to boot). It's one of the best I've seen in recent memory.

Fate/Stay Night was the one where the complete collection didn't offer any improvements over the original two releases, right?

No idea, but the parts are 1080i and the complete collection 1080p for what it's worth. I know other 1080i Sentai are indeed worser than their 1080p counterparts Bodacious Space Pirates being one i remember.

That's correct.

Here was that comparison I made. There's also a screenshot over at blu-ray definition that shows ghosting in the 1080p set, this one, but I think the ghosting effect was used on purpose for that specific scene though am not sure. I may do some more comparisons when I get a chance. I see the 1080i sets on sale over at RS for dirt cheap. I would say they're worth it at that price.

Also posted some comparisons for Xamd here while we're on the subject. And some standalone screenies from Bodacious' 1080p set here. Am still planning on doing some 1080i Bodacious comparisons using the screenshots from either the review here or at Blu-ray Definition.

You could try maybe the Geneon DVD's (Once again, Geneon was great at DVD's when they were around), though I don't know how those compare.

I posted about Baccano a few weeks ago. Even Andrew stated that the files were from Aniplex's discs.
It'll be interesting to see whether any future releases like DRRRx2 are the same A/V wise.

So it's interesting to see that Sentai's Higurashi Blu-Ray will be four discs like the Japanese release was, I've got my fingers crossed that we'll be seeing a comparable release here (even though Season 1 didn't look awfully good on Blu-Ray I'd still be willing to buy it if it's equal or similar to the source as Season 2 is a definite purchase if it's similar/equal as Season 2 does look a little better)

Sounds like the discs are all different in the Hayao Miyazaki CE set as compared to the Disney releases - I'm wondering how the bitrates compare for the discs in the box set, since they have no previews or extra stuff on the discs... I had the box set on Pre-order, but then cancelled it about 3 weeks ago because of the disc sleeve pakaging; now I may decide to get it with the reported fixed subtitles...

I need a BD player on my pc~ Was going through the Miyazaki BD's yesterday and noticed they had updated menus and no annoying Disney commercials when I put the disk in. They also say Miyazaki Collection - Castle in the Sky when I put it in my ps3/4.
