As for burn in, no modern OLED from LG or Sony will have that issue. You would have to leave an image up for, if I recall correctly, several weeks to cause a problem. No one does that for games or TV viewing.
This is the issue, the images left up for weeks to months (And sometimes years if you are super dedicated) are the health bars/timer for fighting games, and status/radar/ammo/UI from most other games. They are static, and while the values change, often times it's just different numbers or colors filling/emptying from them. (Also doesn't help that a lot of times these are either white or yellow to contrast from what else is going on, like subtitles in movies. Yellow subtitles are the best, fight me.)

If you play a fighting game for weeks straight without turning the TV off and assuming mid battle splash screens never appear (that would refresh the OLED screen)... you are hardcore. lol

I can only see you getting burn in on an OLED if you are doing a fighting game in an endless battle mode and you are THAT good that you never stop. That's not me. Ever. Love fighting games. It's too bad I suck at them.

My TV is normal use. Games, crappy TV, BDs and repeat. And I turn it off when I am not using it.

I've seen plenty of CRTs with burn in on Neo Geo arcade cabs because operators didn't turn off the coin and level counts. So even under unreasonable circumstances it can happen on other display types.

I agree on yellow for various reasons. We can fight anyway if you like.

Because for others the Yellow might be easier to read? Unfortunately as long as we're in a world where home video formats don't use soft subtitles where the player can adjust them for the end-users own preference. We're all going to have to deal with subtitles we dont like from certain publishers.

Regarding Sentai's K-On Premium Box Set, did they fix the audio issue in the Japanese audio with Season 2 Episode 11?

Didn't see an actual thread for it, but anyone who has the Armored Trooper VOTOMs TV set, how is the PQ? I keep hearing differing opinions when it comes to PQ quality, mostly complaining about ghosting. I was just wondering how much truth there is to that and if so, how bad is it?

Or in a perfect world, every company would be like Animeigo from the subtitle perspective and give too many options.

We don't want them to be like Animeigo from the speed of release side though...

I tell you this, boys and squirrels, whichever company that decides to make a decent-sized Full HD miniLED/microLED TV will be raking in the dough from video enthusiasts, especially those who watch animation and play console games.

Just asking, does anyone know if the German BD of Fate/Stay Night Heaven’s Feel I. presage flower really has LPCM 5.1 audio mixes? And if so, are they 16 or 24-bit? I’m asking here in case someone knows, because I’m going to ask the distributor (peppermint) via email, and this would save me writing a badly translated email in German.

(I ask as I’m making a custom BD of it. I already have English and Japanese subs synced up to the IT BD- which has the same timing, and if the audio on the DE BD is PCM 5.1 at 24-bit, it would be worth replacing the Dynit’s JP 5.1 mix- which I have no problem with, it’s just I’d use a PCM if possible.)

Wakfu - Kickstarter BD (Region free)

Yeah, it's one of those French "anime" (though Masaaki Yuasa did character designs for one OVA), but I still wanted to share these screenshots. It has a lot of nasty color banding.

The Blu-ray is really hard to find now.

- Audio -
French DTS 5.1 / 48 kHz / 768 kbps / 24-bit
French PCM 2.0 / 48 kHz / 2304 kbps / 24-bit
English PCM 2.0 / 48 kHz / 2304 kbps / 24-bit
*Lossless DTS-HD MA in special episodes*

- Subtitles -
French (Optional)
English (Optional, dubtitles)
English SDH (Optional, dubtitles)
Spanish (Optional)

Bitrate viewer report - episode #1

AVG: 18893 kbps | MAX: 30262 kbps

Bitrate viewer report - episode #2

AVG: 18879 kbps | MAX: 31746 kbps

Back cover says DTS-HD MA.

7 BD-50 discs. Season 1+2 (52 episodes) + 5 OVA. The OVA Masaaki Yuasa worked on is one of the worst Blu-ray encodes ever. iirc it was some botched conversion from 25fps to 23.976fps with a lot of ghosting.

As bad as the encoding work was, it was at least priced accordingly. I think it was like $35 for the BD, a T-shirt, boardgame and CD.

Well, no need to worry about some upcoming anime reviews on the site. We've got a guy who knows what he's talking about on our hands.

Well, I decided to take a look at Discotek's BD release of Kyo Kara Maoh! I was quite satisfied after comparing it to my Geneon DVD, which appears to suffer from extreme black crush and compression artifacts severely hiding the artwork in places (the first comparison in the first set is an excellent example). Each disc has 13 episodes.

Bitrate analysis:

The comparisons:

This show cracked me up so much back in the day (capturing the second screenshot in the first set made me laugh again, as a matter of fact), so I really hope that Discotek will be awesome and bring over the rest of it as well. I can't wait to watch Yuri try to avoid Wolfram again in HD.

Night and day difference. Despite 13 episodes per disc, it looks good considering its source (which is HD but poor due to the age). Still, I don't see any major issues (the soft lines and aliasing are probably in the source). Justin continues his streak of undefeatable discs despite cranking out like 2 or 3 per month.

Yeah not a fan of the "full cour on a disc" thing but at least Sevakis knows how to encode things well enough where it doesn't affect anything.
