JB has both combined for $61 AUD (~45 USD) right now but obviously shipping will be a bit hefty although you can bundle it with another 50% off sale for other anime going on. That being said I have little faith in the PQ if Madman encoded it. Their best work is when they clone Aniplex encodes (Madoka movies, Heavens Feel) or Sentai encodes. |

Alright, apologies again--I'm having a lot of trouble with this. I did download bitrate viewer so I can use that utility in the future. The problem I am having is with makemkv. I keep getting an error along the lines of "ILLEGAL REQUEST: COPY PROTECTION ERROR." I think my BD drive is to blame, because it also says "Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive."
Any advice? ![]() |

So it looks like it wasn't my BD drive, but the fact that my version of makemkv was outdated.
![]() I created a quick .mkv of the UK Paprika disc, here is the bitrate graph. ![]() And here is a text dump of the mediainfo (wasn't sure what format y'all use so I'll spoiler it). Bear in mind, this is from an .mkv of the feature only, not the actual disc. [Show spoiler] I'm pretty tired, but tomorrow I'll see if I can do the same with the Sony (USA) disc, and maybe try my hand at grabbing some screenshots for comparison. Thanks for the help, I'm pretty new to this. |

Double post...for science!
Here's the mediainfo for the US Paprika disc: [Show spoiler] I can't generate a bitrate graph, it's giving me an error for some reason. I'll troubleshoot it later on my break or when I get home from work. I'll also see about taking some screengrabs if I have time. |

Maybe it’s because the American BD is MPEG-2?
Anyways, you don’t need to make a graph for it. Caps a Holic has one and some screenshots of it. |

OK, let's hope this works. I only had time to try and match the first three screenshots with those of the "capsaholic" images of the US disc. I didn't have any timestamps to work with so I eyeballed as best as I could.
[Show spoiler] The windowboxing on the Sony disc has clearly been eliminated. |

Tempting, but I'm still praying for a Dynit release of Paprika and Tokyo Godfathers with English subs.

Nothing yet on my side but someone on Funi discord got their Re:Zero replacement discs in today. Hopefully some of us see them next week.

I really should've responded there and then, but I have both volumes of Manga's release of Occultic;Nine. Based on what I've seen, it clearly wasn't authored by Manga (based on the subtitle font, it looks like an Aniplex clone, as Madman's release (which came after the UK) used the UK discs (literally, they used the exact same discs with the BBFC rating and Manga logo)), as Manga authored discs have the inability to display more than one caption at the same time.

Well, if it wasn't an Aniplex encode, who was responsible for it, as it doesn't look like a typical Manga author (the subtitle font is a dead giveaway)? And as I already stated, Madman used the UK discs with the BBFC rating and the Manga logo on the disc art, as I saw in an unboxing video (Madman's logo and the ACB rating is nowhere to be seen).
