Since i'm making a centralised post for all the blu-ray specs I have on my blog, here some spec for Kiznaiver UK from @anime Ltd.
Any addition to the list is welcome by the way ~ Even if the bitgraph show a pretty low average bitrate, the overall PQ is really good, almost no banding even in dark scene (see last screenshot). I don't know how it compare to the AoA set but i suspect it's on par since Kiznaiver from AoA is not a JP clone. The only niptick i can find is the audio, the DTS JP track is not super great, I would have liked a PCM track instead. Yeah, I was wondering about that too. DTS-HD MA should sound the same as PCM, unless some tinkering was done to the audio.

DTS-HD is bit for bit identical to its PCM counterpart. However, it's not a smart move to encode a PCM 16bit track (1536kbps) into DTS-HD with 1509kbps for core, because the sum of core and lossless part will have an actual higher bitrate than its PCM lossless counterpart and will sound just the same (so basically it's useless).

I'm not sure if the audio on the JP set are in PCM (didn't find the information) but if it's the case maybe something was "lost" during the conversion? Or maybe the problem is from my new audio setup (tested on a new 5.1 sony homecinema) so I'll double-check with my hold settup to see if I need to change some settings on my new setup. __________________________________________________ ___________ Not sure if this was already posted here (or on Fandompost) but, here the specs for Granblue Fantasy from AoA. Nothing to report here, a typical AoJ clone. Very very very minimal banding (See yuria on the green background) but it's so subtle that I think it's not worth mentionning. DTS-HD is a lossless encoding scheme. If it sounds different is either because the PCM audio is a different mix or because the DTS-HD decoder is flawed (quite unlikely if it's officially licensed).
It's like a Flac or a zip file. You can't say that the original file and the extracted file from the zip are different... |

Well, every speaker setup have a different eq and sounds different to each other, so it's possible that it's the different setup the cause.

After checking with my hold setup, it was indeed my speaker, I don't know why my news setup seem to be worse than the older one since it should be better, I'll need to check online for the correct settings.
So the UK Kiznaiver DTS-HD MA tracks are perfectly fine. __________________________________________________ ___________________ While I was updating my blog post, I added the WeET Korean edition of Hellsing Ultimate, and it's kinda strange, every OVAs (10) are encoded on a single BD (25), so 10 BD (25) and the compression is pretty good with a efty ~34Mbps on average, (as you can see on the bitgraph) the others OVA are on the same wage, pretty strong bitrate. The image quality is pretty good most of the time but some scenes show a pretty bad banding, I asked Mp3dom (since Dynit released Hellsing Ultimate as well) if the JP source has banding backed in it, he repsonded yes but that it was a minor banding, clearly not as strong as seen on some of the screens. Maybe it was due to a wrong brightness level due to a bad encoder setup as suggested by Mp3dom but since I don't own any others releases of that serie I can't check if the gamma/brightness level is correct or wrong. If anyone have the italian or US/UK set and can check (my screen are from the first OVA). The audio is flawless, very strong 5.1 PCM track. Good Afternoon Yuripa (and everyone, heh).
I am curious, wrt the WeET Hellsing set you mention above. Is it this set? Kimchi Link: https://kimchidvd.com/en/21642/v.kim...chWrd=hellsing If so, it's my understanding there were no English sub/dub provided just Japanese and Korean. I fell in love with that set a year ago but as it did not appear English friendly, was rather useless to me. Thanks much! ![]() |

Thanks much for your reply.
Indeed it's gorgeous. I could still be tempted heh heh. One last question, if I may; If you scroll to the bottom of the Kimchi listing you will see a boxed replica of Alucard's 454 Cassull. pistol. I don't see any info in the advert though wrt it's inclusion and it was not shown in the unboxing. Did you receive one? Or, did you learn any info on how to get one? Cheers! |

It's not a replica, (the cost would be insane if that was the case) it's a cartboardbox (that imitate the real pistol case) with the illustration of the pistol inside (on a paper) and beneath that paper is where the 2 BD boxs are.
I did not include that box on my unboxing because unfortunatly my country customs destroyed the box to see what was inside, a bunch of morons. ![]() __________________________________________________ _____ Edit : from what Mp3dom said (thanks to the mediainfo) it's not a encoder setup problem, it might be from the source. ^^ Again, thanks so very much for your reply.
OK, that makes sense. I agree, including even a plastic replica, would have increased the price but was curious as they made no mention of what I was looking at! ![]() I'm quite saddened to hear that the customs twits destroyed your box. That is so incredibly frustrating, I had that happen once on an item. At least you have the gorgeous set! I just have to stay away from my computer when drinking whiskey or one will soon be mine as well.... ![]() |

Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie – Discotek Media BD
Gave Discotek Media’s BD a rewatch. It’s a nice transfer overall, aside from what appears to be scanner noise. Something that’s not mentioned anywhere on the packaging is that the Japanese PCM 2.0 track is mixed in Dolby Stereo, so it effectively functions as a 4.0 surround track. The surround information can be recovered via Dolby Pro Logic or DTS Neo processing. Sadly most labels forget to mention if the 2.0 tracks contain surround information and this was also the case with Discotek Media’s Robot Carnival BD. I won't be watching SFII in Japanese again because Ryu's voice actor is awful. Ho. Ly. Sh*t.
Now THAT is how you do a definitive re-release. Every cut and audio option imaginable in the best A/V quality possible. Okay, I've been holding out on getting it, but hot damn. Now I have to. Unless a new scan is done and all the audio options are ported over, I doubt this'll ever be topped. |

GoShogun The Complete TV Series BD
(Discotek) Episode 1 ![]() Video: 1080p MPEG-4 AVC 1.33:1 Aspect Ratio Audio: Japanese LPCM 2.0 1536kbps Screenshots Each episode hovers around 3.2-3.3GB, has 2 discs with 13 episodes per disc, looks as good as could be expected for a 1981 super robot show. There is damage at the top of the frame every so often which can be annoying, I've included screenshots showing this. |
