I don't think you can take a 4K screenshot with HDR, but you should be able to snip out a 1 or 2 second clip with MKVToolNix. Not sure if the mods would be happy if those clips are shared here.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to say this, but recently, I got Madman's BD release of Sailor Moon SuperS: The Movie, and unlike the other 2 movies, where the entire subtitles are optional during playback, for the SuperS Movie, only the main translation is optional during playback, as the signs track is either locked or hardsubbed.

As I was testing the disc, when I had the full translated subtitles on, I pressed fast forward, and later, rewind, and the main translation disappeared, which you would expect from softsubs, but the songs/signs are still there, and on the feature of my LG player where you can shift subtitles up and down, you can't do that to the signs track, so it seems that they could be hardsubbed, but I could be wrong as the songs/signs have the same font as the main translation.

Sound Euphonium from @anime Ltd (UK/FR)
This one is a french authoring, (the authoring house was "Charbon bleu" aka the same for the Re-zero mess)
Some noticable banding + compression artifacts, but nothing like "Re-zero level".
The subtitles are locked (French/English) no dub.

the average bitrate is around 25 Mbps, with multiple spike over 35 and few over 50 Mbps.
Nothing to report for the audio side, the DTS HD-MA track are pretty good and get the job done.

I don't have the US release to compare to the UK release, but this release is ok for the asked price.
Wish the PQ was a little better for the video side.

I checked out the SD-BD for Human Crossing. As Slerch mentioned in this thread before, it suffers from the same interlace/ghosting problem as Votoms and it's basically unwatchable. I got through the first episode and gave up due to how distracting the constant ghosting and interlace artifacts are. Screenshots can't really get across how just outright bad it looks in motion.

Sentai really should've recalled all of these botched SD-BDs, it's that bad.

I can do this weekend or early next week I think.
You can do screenshots converted to SDR with MPC-HC and madVR or unconverted without the latter. MPC-HC doesn't seem to read UHD playlists so you have to open the .m2ts streams directly. In madVR settings under the display device there's an HDR section. Select "tone map HDR using pixel shaders" and set the peak nit target, between 120 and 200 is usually OK, which will convert it to SDR and make it look decent on regular displays.

For me madVR always seems to convert screenshots to SDR so if you want to capture the unconverted HDR you need to disable madVR in the MPC-HC Output settings and use EVR instead. The screenshots will look very dull and flat on a regular monitor, but if viewed on an HDR display forced into HDR mode they'll look like they should.

Does anyone have a comparison/analysis of the 4K UHD release of Ghost in the Shell 95' to the Blu-ray? Bonus points for Innocence.

'95: Anchor Bay BD vs JP UHD

Innocence: Manga UK BD vs JP UHD

My preference:

JP 2017 Remastered BD for '95; JP Absolute Edition for Innocence

I received Nozomi's Maquia BD release today. Unlike Shout's disc, the subtitles are not burned directly into the picture with two separate video streams. However, they are locked when the Japanese track is selected. I, unfortunately, don't have the Shout BD to create screenshot comparisons and don't know what the timestamps are on the existing ones to do so.

Huh. Nozomi actually using DTS-HD MA instead of PCM? Interesting...

Just for comparison, the JP BD is:

Video:
35.518 mbps AVG Bitrate
57.475 mbps MAX Bitrate

Audio:
Japanese LPCM 2.0 24-bit 2304 kbps (2.3 mbps)
Japanese Dolby TrueHD 5.1 24-bit 3341 kbps (3.3 mbps)

A certain company called Q-Tec handled BOTH UHDs.

While I'm thrilled at those insanely high bitrates, the DNR on BOTH is beyond insane.

Eh, it’s still better than what TMS is cranking out for UHDs.

Probably because Oshii supervised the transfers on both, whereas Dezaki is dead and couldn't for Cobra and Ashita no Joe 2.

Even if Dezaki was still alive Cobra and Joe would probably still look like shite. Cel/traditional animation is just in an awful spot right now for UHD.

Cundam F91
Gundam Thunderbolt

And that's about it...
