A quick note on the AU Violent Nevergarden from Madman.

It's a 7/7 split and the first disc is well over 40 gigs. It's all one title, so I'm not going to rip it right now. The two audio tracks are 16 bit 2.0 PCM.

No its 7/7 because the OVA. And the OVA is 33 minutes or something.

All in one title, or all in one file? If it's the latter, I thought people stopped doing that dumb shit years ago.

I realize that the Ghost in the Shell SAC discussion has been beaten into the ground, so advance apologies here. The UK releases of Laughing Man and Individual Eleven are poor DVD upscales. My question is: what about Solid State Society? Is the UK release competent?

The UK disc of SSS is apparently a clone of the US disc.

It also appears to be the US disc complete with FBI warning, now coded for Region B.

All the reviews that I have seen are positive about this release.

I cannot comment on the PQ, but I have ordered a used copy of the UK disc, so maybe I'm able to take screenshots soon.

Sure, but how are the M2TS files like? If it really is one file, than it’s odd. Chances are it’s actually individual files as one title when put through MakeMKV.

I don't know what the M2TS files are like. I assume they are individual files, as mentioned earlier. I just wasn't going to rip that one giant file, is all. Good thing I didn't, because someone had already done that

The M2TS files are the individual files. They're located in the BDMV\STREAM folder on the disc. The MakeMKV selection is based on the MPLS playlist files in the BDMV\PLAYLIST folder. The playlist files are linked to one or multiple M2TS files.

MakeMKV can make a decrypted full disc backup that keeps the original folder structure. That way you can access the individual M2TS files and make MKVs with MKVToolNix. The chapter structure is by the way not stored in the M2TS files. Of course you can also rip the big MKV and split it with MKVToolNix.
