Dragon Ball Z Level 1.1
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The picture quality of the Level sets is overrated. They're better than anything before (and after lol), but they have their problems. I'm very well aware of the inherent graininess and contrast problems (i.e. black crush) in the multi-gen film elements, but most people ignore the fact that the compression is ass. In some shots, the darker shots in particular, it's as if I'm staring at Lego® bricks. ![]() Also, the film was scanned with a then (2011) outdated SDC 2000 Spirit DataCine from 1996. A scan with a modern film scanner and better compression would likely yield better results. SDC 2000 Spirit DataCine ![]() BDInfo disc 1 Code:

Gotta give the other players credit at least (Sentai/Viz/MediaOCD), seeing as they've made visible changes to their encoders at least once in the same time frame. |

Has anyone got the Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 2 blu-ray and can comment on the video quality? Someone on the shingeki no kyojin reddit seems to be suggesting that funimation used the tv masters for the BD as opposed to the blu-ray masters

Honey and Clover Season 1
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Had a quick look through episode one of this release, and I must say it's a very pleasing upscale. There's some odd frames where you can see that the image hasn't been de-interlaced properly/at all (see #7) but I get the impression that they're pretty rare as I only noticed one minor and one major example of this (excluding the ED). Needless to say it's a massive upgrade over the Q-TEC upscaled JP BD. Not entirely sure whether said BD was a 1080i30 or 1080p24 release, but the only rip I could find for comparison was 720p24 with with major interlacing artifact issues. Here's a downscaled still for comparison anyway. ![]() Last edited by Mangaranga; 03-22-2020 at 05:25 PM. |

Pathetic. There's no reason the film should have such a low bitrate, even if the encoding settings are well optimized, and for the extras to be higher bitrate (and I bet the making of is just talking heads) as well as have lossless audio? That's just flat out stupid.
