Is it my setup that's gone berserk or is Eva 3.33 crammed with banding?
![]() I have the HK release, and maybe it's not as good as the JP one after all. Or it's my setup. I didn't notice these banding issues with the JP BDs of 1.11 and 2.22 I've watched over the last two days. If I have to get a JP copy of 3.33 and finds subs for it, fine. I'll have to get a 2.22 where the cover isn't ruined by sunfading too ![]() |

I've got the Giant short cut separately so marrying up the shots should be pretty easy on my part. |

If you guys are interested, I just created a few more Maison Ikkoku comparisons. Once again, BD shots are courtesy of hissatsu.

No, don't delete it.
It's really not that bad. And it confirms they aren't going to try and censor the first half of the show. I noticed in the second half her clothes changed and suddenly she wasn't going bra-less with a see-through negligee. |

Some screencaps from Strawberry Marshmallow and The Fruit of Grisaia from Sensuifu of The Fandom Post.
As expected Sentai unfortunately used the JPBD masters for their Strawberry Marshmallow release. How the JPBD's compared to Geneon's DVD's. http://screenshotcomparison.com/comp....php?id=158961 http://screenshotcomparison.com/comp....php?id=158963 http://screenshotcomparison.com/comp....php?id=158966 Neither look great, but the Geneon DVD's looks much better to me. Q-TEC (not sure if they did it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was them) and their smeary upscales must be stopped. If anyone picks up the Sentai DVD, care to tell me if they used the DVD or BD masters to create them? If they used the JP DVD masters, it could then possibly end up being an upgrade over the Geneon DVD's. As for The Fruit of Grisaia, is it me, or did Sentai nail it? And yes the entire show is in Scope. I'd recommend not scrolling too far down if you haven't seen the show, some spoilers in there. |

SHAFT has also used it quite a bit before IIRC, and the rest of the Grisaia series (The Labyrinth of Grisaia and The Eden of Grisaia) kept on going with it. Also last season's Erased used that aspect ratio for scenes taking place in the past, which was nearly the entire show. Explanation as to why on that one can be found in here (spoilers await you).

Surprised nobody has mentioned it yet given the high disc count but if anyone has stats for Sentai's Higurashi discs I'd be super appreciative, I want to double dip on S2 but I'd prefer to see an indication of what to expect from S1 first.
