Didn't know Roujin Z had a release by them, going to look into buying it, such a good film.
If you're referring to the Kaze release of Psycho Pass SS, then it's shite with I-Frame pulsing and poor compression. I can very much recommend the UK BD on the other hand, as it's more or less identical to the Japanese BD release 99% of the time.

Ignore comparison 6. JP BD is encoded at an average of 34-35mbps whereas the UK BD averages just under 23mbps.

You're talking about the Kazé German Blu-Ray…? I've never seen any review of it. Do note that Kazé Germany has literally nothing to do with Kazé France and do not share the same staff nor pipelines. They are entirely separate business, just linked to a mother company.

In France, it was released by Kana Home Video (and authored by Citel or a related laboratory) - 26 mbps mean bitrateAnd it is much cheaper than the UK release.

Steamboy

JP BD / DE BD (twitter compressed jpegs) / AU BD

Not the same frame, but you get the idea

JP BD and DE BD are based on the digital intermediate, but DE BD seems to have been regraded for some reason. DE BD has English dub/sub, and both the original cut and shorter international cut. Extras are on a DVD.

Sony provided Umbrella AU and Manga UK with an ancient film-out transfer that was created by IMAGICA for "overseas use"

Steamboy wasn't even released in the U.S. on blu ray so the Manga UK release is about the only hi-def option for us English speaking folk.

Australia's Umbrella Entertainment has an English friendly, region free blu as well. I have it and it was definitely enjoyable.

Do the pros of Weathering With You's 4K release (increased resolution, HDR) outweigh its reported issues (some harsh edge enhancement)? The blu-ray is stunning. It's hard to imagine it looking much better.

It depends. Your Name 4K only increased the luminance of some highlights and is overall really faithful to the original presentation of the movie with a very similar luminance graph.

Weathering With You 4K is not like that. The conversion was done by Imagica rather than Q-tec and is really transformative of the movie. It gets REALLY bright throughout the entire film rather than keeping the same luminance levels as the SDR presentation.

It makes for an eye popping experience but unlike Your Name 4K, it's not what the movie is supposed to look like. It's not small enhancements to the picture, it's a completly different one instead.
Add to that the issue with the US/UK/FR disc (a color shift caused by DCI-P3 metadata rather than BT.2020) and you get your answer based on what you want out of it.

Do you want a faithful presentation that improves on some areas of the movie to give it more pop like Your Name 4K ? Then no.
Do you want a different interpretation of the movie's grading that goes all out for that impressive bright look ? Then yes it's worth it, even with the US disc issue.

Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine - Discotek Media + Anime Limited UK BD / VAP BD / Funimation BD

Didn't feel like taking a lot of screenshots because I'm a bit tired. From what I've seen there's not much of a difference between the Discotek / AL UK BD and the VAP BD. They look virtually the same in motion. The Funimation BD has the 0.88 gamma bug that they've had until 2015.

I've been wondering for a while now, is there any way to compensate for this during playback in MPC/MPV? With content encoded in the wrong colour space you can force the correct output in both, so I was wondering if there was something similar for the gamma issue.

Write an AviSynth or VapourSynth script and feed it to MPC

Outlaw Star JP/UK BD encode isn't perfect, but it's far superior to the US BD.

Someone privately shared with me some screencaps of it (IT Dynit Inuyasha) over a month ago and they didn't look too hot (has many artifacts from what looks like a poor IVTC), but since I could never confirm if they were correctly taken, I never shared them, as I don't want to post incorrect screencaps for obvious reasons.

As far as I know, IVTC problems are on the 1st OP only (for obvious reasons) with some jerky movements but both gamma and colorimetry should be right. Everything else *should* be right.
