That I don't know.

The glitched frames happen in two scenes very briefly

Checked both instances of corruption Scav posted and they're not present on Viz's discs.
Wouldn't be the first Madman disc to have corrupt Frames as Your Name has an instance of it too.

I wouldn't let the incorrect colour space dissuade you from purchasing the Viz sets for Jojo - and that's coming from me.
The discs are very solid with that being the only minor blemish, and you probably won't even notice without doing direct comparisons.
It's not like Inuyasha where the shift was done twice, making bright reds wine red for example
If you have the ability to play back via MPC-HC on PC, there's even a built in filter you can enable for bt.601->bt.709 to correct this during playback which is part of why I'd much rather deal with content incorrectly encoded in bt.601 than something with the 0.88 gamma bug.

On that point, maybe more of a question for Scav, but is there an easy way to correct the gamma bug during playback with MPC/MPV?
I've yet to find a solution for it.

In MPV you can tweak gamma via 5 and 6 keys during playback, but it's not the greatest solution. Better would be a vapoursynth script that's mapped to a shortcut.

In MPC you can serve an avisynth script.

I don't think there's been any info on the Ghibli ga Ippai BD Box anywhere online. Truly bizarre.

Joel McCray was responsible for authoring the Maiden Japan release while Ryan Anthony handled the Sentai disc. I haven’t really heard much about the latter’s work, but McCray was considered pretty reliable during his tenure working for Sentai. I would expect no major issues with the Maiden Japan disc.

Thanks, I watched it a few years ago and recall no issues at all. I'm always open to upgrades though.

Queen Millennia Vol. 1 - KSM Anime BD (Germany)

Watched the first 2 episodes and so far I'm impressed by the remaster. Never thought that we would ever get a proper remaster of a 16mm Toei production.

Did notice some color flickering in episode 2, kind of like color temperature switching from warm to cool. According to dubudavid that's caused by damage on the negative.

I was also quite impressed by the Japanese audio. The Japanese track appears to be from the optical track as par for the course with Toei, but it is surprisingly quite clear. I checked a DVD rip and it had very muffled audio.

I'm hoping that these sets do well enough for KSM/Plaion to commission more classic anime remasters.

Before I forget:
- Region free
- No locked subtitles
- Next episode previews and preview for episode 1 are a bonus on Disc 4.

I don't think I posted here, but Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan ended up being a safe Viz title to pick up. It retains the same authoring house and corrected encoding setup (BT.709 colour space instead of BT.601) as Jojo Golden Wind Part 2 and (seemingly) Boruto. No obvious or major issues, and that's considering the episodes are about 1gb less per episode that Jojo due to being on a BD25.

Some Comparisons between the JP and US BDs

I'd start buying Viz discs if they could turn around like this for all their titles. That's really good.

I have the BD, and it looks fine to my eyes, but that doesn’t mean a whole lot. I did play it side by side with the dvd, and it didn’t look any worse, which has happened with a few Media Balsters BDs. I would give more info, but I’m not exactly sure how to do that. Screenshots of VLC?

It might be better to just stick with the DVDs (although perhaps the DVDs have video issues too and the Blu-Ray upscale(?) just made it worse). It seems that Media Blasters does not bother to QA any of their work.
