Very unlikely a one day sale that isn't massly advertised (except onlline) is going to garner a ton of units sold. This isn't Black Friday. The only ones that will take this offer are people that go to sites like this, AVS, and others and people who see it on sale while in Walmart for other reasons.

To me it seems like a desperate hooker that lowered her price.

yes it can what happens when we still have 2 to 1 disc sales and Warner Bros. still supports Blu-Ray. HD DVD has to LOWER THEIR PLAYERS FROM $176.00 AT THE START OF THE DAY AND IN THE SAME DAY HAVE 2 PRICE drops..just ask the investors how they feel about that HD DVD is just doing this to survive..the BDA does not ..that should tell you something who else right now will have out $98.00 HD DVD players for FRIDAY. btw what ever happened to those cheap HD DVD players from china.for walmart.o'l thats right cheap Toshiba HD DVD players
for walmart..cheap HD DVD players selling $30.00+ MOVIES

think about this what proffit's can be made at that price for a ce company?..think about that why build the player if you cannot make a proffit.on the player..that's the whole point...are any other CE companies makeing HD DVD player's right now how about the future..do you realy see any of the other CE companies makeing players if there is not any profit in it for them.

SO why make the player's for movie companies ..like they are going to pay the CE company to make a player when Toshiba is selling a player well below the cost that any other Ce company can make players for right now other than Toshiba..

I never said i would give into temption. But Serenity, Batman Begins, and Casino are among my favorite movies and they just keep putting more icing on that cake. Still, if i do buy an HD DVD player, those arethe only 3 movies I would get.

Just go to the stores and slap some "Won't play Disney, Sony, Fox, MGM, and Lionsgate movies" stickers on them and watch them collect dust.

If this is what it will take for blu-ray to win, then maybe it shouldn't win?
its no worse than forceing every other CE company out from makeing any money off of HD DVD..I hope it was worth it for Toshiba AND THE DVD forum..because they just made a ton of friends in the CE industry by doing what they just did..just ask SONY when they did this with BETAMAX....but unlike Sony. what Toshiba DID WAS UNDERCUT ANY CHANCE for any other CE company from ANY CHANCE OF a profit off of HD DVD except for TOSHIBA...

and we know HOW that turns out....Sony and Betamax...look's like Toshiba will be joining that failed format club soon enough...

I can't believe you mean that. You guys complain about AVS but you shut down and ban anyone who says anything anti blu-ray.

So this is just a propaganda site? I came here for good information. Which might mean some debate every once in a while.

Let's put it this way: blu-ray.com is what the Blu-ray forum on AVS SHOULD have been, but isn't due to the constant FUD & lies from HD DVD fanboys attacking everything a blu-ray supporter says, effectively killing any sane discussion going on there.

Default HD-A2 $99.87 at Walmart Friday

BD needs to step up. This is getting out of hand. I personally have no problem spending $400 for a BD player, but I am not the general population. Things are starting to look a little dim. I don't like this at all

think about this for a sec..can any other hardware CE company make and sell to the consumer HD DVD drives or players outside of Toshiba for this price..will they ever be able to make any Money..so why make the players..if Toshiba wants to supply UNIVERALS,PARAMOUNT/DREAM WORKS with HD DVD players than Toshiba can keep doing it Alone..add in ONE more studio..delay's getting out more movies with only Toshiba makeing Optical drives and player's
all by themselves.
