Now if Disney was skipping a Blu release of a Marvel or Star Wars film then I'll worry. Plus there's a reason companies like Criterion, Shout/Scream Factory and Kino exist. They'll license cult titles for release if the content owner doesn't want the hassle of releasing of disc.
So why are films like 'big bad wolves', 'inside no 9' and 'grace' available online in HD but not on bluray in my country? This is starting to become a regular theme and can't be ignored. Not to mention 'trick r treat' which is region A only I believe. Things are becoming splintered and that is playing into the hands of the likes of iTunes, Vudu etc.. If people can't get their HD fix with Bluray they may settle for 'Better than nothing HD streaming'

It was just a wind-up for April fools day. I will go into the trenches with bluray!

Sony is getting ready to post a Y25 Billion impairment charge due to decreased demand of physical discs due to the increase in streaming media. Looks like the shift is happening now.

All downhill from here. When will I be able to see a clear detailed background in a film in the future?

With America's largest ISP, Comcast, now offering 505mbps speed, at a hefty price. The ability to receive full Blu-ray quality feeds is becoming less of an issue.

No matter what the studios try to push, there will always be a market for physical media. People will always want to own things...items they can hold, feel, actually own and not just 0's and 1's up in some cloud.

Are we guaranteed no drop outs? I have fibre and I still get drop outs and buffering on occasion. It's a huge turn off.

Also, no one cares. The race to the bottom is about value not quality. I argued this point with you two years ago. They know the mainstream don't give a crap. They will serve up SD across the board years from now. At the very best 720p. Sure they can achieve 4k in future but this sad world we live in will dictate shoddy SD that might juuuuuuust pass as DVD quality in future.

bingo... people LIKE owning things... it's WHY we're a "consumeristic society" as the cliche goes... humans have liked owning things for eons... it's not going to go away

Well of course and no one said that some won't. But you can also own movies in the cloud. Adding digital copies to Blu-rays has gotten many Blu-ray buyers used to the convenience. Sony writing off billions proves it.

Internet is still to laggy and spotty in places. A good chunk have no high speed except satellite which has severe limitations. I lived on dvds and blu ray for almost three years. Had maybe 5 local channels through the antenna. Plus I don't think a majority of people have confidence in putting serious money into streaming and downloadable. At least they should. Computers crash ,servers get hacked, licenses will get compromised and lost. Ill always prefer physical and will be willing to pay more for it.

500mbps internet is about quality. Did you dream that speed was even possible back when you had a 14.4kb dial up modem? Do you see the trend? Speeds are only getting faster. And I am not sure anyone can tell what the rest of your message means.

Do you remember when everyone had dial up? Do you see the trend? Speeds and access just continues to get better. And satellite's issue is for gaming, not streaming. How do you think that the networks share their feed? Hint..satellite. Not saying its the same bandwidth, but it is the same route.

The ability to receive full blu ray quality feeds remains an issue because there are no full blu ray quality feeds.

You know,... I bet I could listen to music using my telephone. But for what ever reason, I don't want to.

Streaming is the same for me... I see no reason to stream all that data to watch something.... Most stuff I watch I want the option of watching again,... Streaming is a waste.

Sadly people be all dumb and will do whatever seems popular and trendy. And enough people doing something is justification enough... Somehow ads can be worked in and suddenly its a lot of commercials.

Not sure why you would insult anyone because they prefer a different way to access their media. There is no right or wrong here, its personal preference.
