I like that he hasn't posted again, funny stuff. I guess all hd supporters can do is try to lie about BD quality on movies and hope people don't purchase. pretty sad

Another one!
Won't you people ever learn? Dang!
Crap will always remain CRAP. There are DVD players $19. Do you think those brands made a big impact on Onkyo, Denon to name a few?

Well, let the World feel the Blu!

LMAO. I don't know about HD-DVD. However, I am rearranging my budget for the rest of this quarter's blu-ray release schedule. I feel bombarded with all these FAWBULOUZ hits. ROFL

I was bored yesterday and trolled the HD DuD forums just to get an idea of their take on the Warner possible news, Spidey for $60, etc.

I don't know enough to respond but they are taking the approach that if they can survive this holiday that 2008 has better movies coming out on HD DuD versus bluray. Bluray won't have any big hitters like Spidey or Pirates to play ball with.

Any thoughts on this?

hahaha, you say that and then ignore the fact these same joe wallmart people are going to flip when they see the software prices.

Yeah.....they are saying what a great deal to buy a highdef player for 200 but whoops.....it costs 70% or more to buy the software (when compared to DVD).

Please explain to me how these price concious people are just waiting for that $100 price drop when it costs THOUSANDS to get into highdef to begin with? You know like a highdef TV, stereo equipment, and highpriced software.

Your theory seems to be joe wallmart is so stupid he'll just buy the "cheap" highdef player without realizing he needs a highdef TV, expensive stereo, and $30 a pop for new releases. Yeah....this is a winning strategy....much like wraping up that exclusivity at K-mart lol.

You do realize that not everyone that owns an HDTV has a surround sound stereo don't you? Do you also realize that a good percentage of people rent instead of buy?

What do these companies guage more? Players or software? That is the motivation. I'm not sure. If they move these players over xmas it will attract attention

If I get on gotta deal I can get a 42inch LCD for $700, my $200 HD DUD, and $150 for a very crappy surround. Then just use netflix to rent my movies instead of the $30 a pop.

That is as cheap as you will find! That didn't kill blu-ray. Think of what kind of loss HD DVD is taking selling these players that low. Why are there so many A2 s left? BECAUSE NOBODY WANTED THEM BEFORE!!! Cheap HD DVD players are not as much of a threat as you think.
They may be cheap, but it now isolates the sweet spot that gets everyone else buying and prolongs the war past xmas which gives them more time to develop a true sub $200 player with features. The longer it goes on, the better HD's chances. They are just trying to stay afloat right now until backup arrives. The goal would be to say they sold x amount of players over the holiday to drumb up publicity. THey weren't going to sell them at $500, so $200 is better then nothing.

And what may I ask is the examples of HD's better titles? Heck Disney is going to have the next Narnia 2 weeks after Iron Man comes out and their next Pixar movie Wal-E comes out in June. No big hitters.......are they stupid? Is this because Paramount has Iron Man next year or maybe they think Star Trek is going to make over $100 million lol?

Sony has a huge title with Will Smith releasing July 2nd called Hancock. At this point Warner is a shoe in for BR only next year, that means I am Legend is BR, the next Harry Potter, Dark Knight (releasing in July next year), Speed Racer, ect.....

It gets WORSE for HD as time goes on. They seem to think they can just wait till 4th qtr 2008 before they start releasing blockbuster titles.....which I admit if Universal stays exclusive (which isn't going to happen) they will have some power but it won't be UNTIL the 4th qtr. So I hope they like to wait for something worth buying on that HD player.

The 4th qtr of 08? Doesn't that line up with the 18 month exclusive with Paramount a little???? What was so special about 18 months to them?

Your upset about the usage of troll, yet you call him a dumb homer? Hi pot this is kettle!

I do agree with the original premise. We need to stop with the BD or die, as it clouds our judgement on this particular subject.

I went to two walmarts, and was disapointed to find out that these DUDS in a box are selling like crazy. One sold them all, the other has 2 left.

Toshiba is not stupid. Dump these crap players for nothing, and get the EYE of Warner thats what its all about. Price makes people stupid.

I have had debates with a ton of average joes, and after touting the superiority of BD, most went cheap and said "But Toshiba is cheaper, I am buying that".

Many non geek consumers are price *****s no matter how you slice it. Amazing to me that quality no longer counts.

Folks, we need to look in the mirror, this is a huge threat, and must be countered. I say, stripped down BD player for cheap, and make Toshiba eat it!

I am buying one. Sue me... I'm a Blu-Ray supporter but not to the point I am a dumb blind homer. It's just technology and if I can get something cheap enough to nicely supplement my home theater, I'm going to do it and if you don't think price matters to the mass adopters, you are the one that is brain-dead my friend. The light in your eyes is the sun shining through your head. LMAO

LOL -- i agree with what you say. I get sick of blu-homers who think there is nothing that can kill blu-ray. That's just dumb. For mass adoption of a format it has to be affordable. Most people will spend money on a TV and then try to piece together cheap components, it's common-place....stoopid but common place.

Then the point is moot. They don't own a HD TV yet they are going to be convinced to buy a 200 player that looks like DVD? Again are you people banking on them being stupid and buying a highdef player when a $50 DVD player is right next to it. Yes....I can see joe wallmart making that choice......after all most of you seem to think they are so stupid they'll do it. You think average joe is going to care about highdef if they don't have anything to view it on or even listen to it? Let alone the price of buying....no matter how much you rent eventually you are going to want to buy SOMETHING and seeing as how it's 70% more expensive than DVD, you don't think that will have any impact?

Also your point on renting instead of buying is an intresting plus for BR. Selling these players won't make a bit of difference IF it doesn't increase the software sales. Where would most joe wallmart people with no highdef tv, no stereo, and no money to buy software go to rent their titles? Blockbuster....which is exclusive to BR. So if you want to point out a good percentage of people rent intead of buy then it only HELPS BR. HD has less than half of the new releases while BR has more than 70%. Not only that the biggest rentailer is BR exclusive. In ther rental world, if the format doesn't even have half the new releases there is BIG trouble. Take October for instance, only a handful of new release titles were released as compared to BR basically having everything outside of Transformers.

Once again, why are people worried about these players. If they sell some to unsuspecting customers it won't effect software splits which at the moment is more important than anything due to the fact Warner has stated it will go exclusive with ONE early next year and Universal is looking to start BR production. After you start seeing 80:20 sales splits this is going to get really funny how people try to spin it.

Do what you got to do. If you look at some of my old posts, I have never ripped on anybody for being purple. I rip on my brother for having an HD DVD player, but he is my brother and that is allowed by rule. It is your choice to own whatever you want and I hope you're happy with it. I won't ever say anything against a reason to supplement YOUR hometheater. I just don't think that "HD DVD is better because it is cheaper." is a good argument and it typically is used by HD DVD fanboys to make themselves feel better.

Have fun with you HD DVD player, I hope you enjoy.

Iron Man is my best guess. That is going to make 200-300 mill next year is my guess. It will be one of the top movies and my guess is Toshiba new it. So they did 18 months to make sure they get it and Transformers as a nice little gift wrap. Right now Paramount has nice titles unfortuantely one of their biggest is Indiana Jones which is directed by you know who......it won't be on HD.
