Thanks Ben however, I’ll probably be on-site long before the official festivities even begin.

You know...........cutting hair and such.

Wicky,
Feel free to approach Michael Bay for an interview for our forum.
I would love to read it.

Bug Nelson repeatedly if you have to.

Well, he's got to look nice for the screening, how about a trim

I've bugged Nelson a bunch of times, but I think his power is limited unfortunately. If you have any numbers in your phonebook to speed up the process feel free to be the invisible hand of influence

Any word of future Fox releases? For instance, I don't know, X-Men 1 and 2

I realize the link provided isn’t the greatest but, the point is--- much of the same appearance would be seen if you did captures of the music video directly from the source.

This is the operator (M.E.) that did the work on that music video (as well as others)…….before he founded and now runs his own successful company.

P.S.
Hey michel, you should call him sometime.
He remembers you from long ago in a land far, far away.

I just received a phone call from a ‘concerned’ reader.

Allow me to clarify the above post, just so that people don't get the wrong impression.
Martin applied the excessive DNR explicitly at the request of the creator, despite the fact that he tried to talk him out of it.

That would require a long distance phone call to Transformers 2 current shooting location.
Are you willing to reimburse me with something like a Philly Cheesesteak?

I would, but I don't know if it would survive the trip

Cheesesteaks, as you well know require a careful balance of environment or they melt into pure cholestoral

How about I ship you all the ingredients, packed in ice overnight and you can fry it up at home?

That’s my primary reservation to the whole subject.
Essentially that some members from some other forums take a legitimate enthusiast complaint (i.e. excessive digital noise reduction) and hype it to all get-out.

I warned Michel about this 2 weeks ago. I just foresee in the future that whenever some home theater enthusiasts see a “soft” Blu-ray movie,
sha-zaaaaaaaaam ! ………The word will go out that it’s been DNR’ed to death!, and that is not necessarily the case.

Not to mention the fact that you’ve now got some people speaking authoritatively about “DNR” when they don’t have even a rudimentary knowledge of how/where/why in the production chain it could be applied and perceivably misused.

This forum, in conjunction with Bill Hunt is leading the way in approaching people of importance at different studios (and have already done so, in one instance) to give this issue the attention it deserves. I just personally dislike all the *extrapolation* that has arisen out of the primary issue.

It disturbs me that some home theater enthusiasts that have never even seen Patton (be it at the theater, on DVD, etc.) – could be reluctant to even rent it now because they’ve been turned off to the title by the online pontification concerning DNR. So, they end up missing out on a great film at home just because of reading the online negative hype……much of which is by people that have never seen the prior home media edition (DVD).

I’ll see.
When he’s involved in a shoot, he’s got a ‘Kubrick-like’ personality in that he’s totally focused.
I think Blu-ray.com may in fact be due for another sit-down with a Director, as wasn’t our last? when Ben or Josh interviewed this fine fellow………….

That's why I TRY to not make judgements on whether films have been DNR'ed... as I don't know enough about them to make judgements (other than what looks visually pleasing).

That being said, it looks like someone else has joined the cause (and appears to have a pretty level head when it comes to DNR):

Dan Ramer is fighting back in favor of BD

Penton (or any other insider in the know),

A while back I posted this...

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=2712

And now I'm watching The Battle of Britain that has this exact feature - an audio track with the theatrical score and one with the rejected score.

Any chance we could be seeing (hearing) more of this type of feature on future releases?

Mission: Impossible with Danny Elfman's score with the Alan Silvestri alternate on a separate track? Or 2001 with Alex North's music? Pirates of the Caribbean, again with the Silvestri score? Etc, etc?

I'll have the Patton BD soon enough, and I have the previous DVD (which BTW was Fox's first Anamorphic DVD, thank you Peter Staddon!)

Absent of having a vivid recollection of 27 Dresses theatrical presentation, look for motion artifacts.
This music video is a rather notorious (among those in the biz) example of that particular type of excessive processing …………………….

Lunch time!
I don't want movies with actor's faces that have been blurred in post production using a DNR type effect - can't the studios be asked not to do this either? If they have to do something like this, can't they do this in-camera using soft focusing (or similar in-camera technique that has been done for ages before there was digital post production stuff) or just move the camera further away if the actor looks bad? They wrecked that Ultraviolet film with this effect.

Ultraviolet from what I've heard was intentional for several reasons, but first among them to try to hide the fact that they were given minimal funds to complete the movie

And I don't think any DP or director is going to change their shot for an actor's vanity if they don't have to
