Lets get it done already!!!!!!!!!
Prediction: Warner is waiting out 2007 to see how many HD-DVD cheapass players sell over the Holiday's. If its enough (they probably have some algorithm or formula to figure this all out), they will stay neutral, if not they will go exclusive Blu-ray. This is what will happen and you will probably know by mid January where they stand.

My guess is they will stay neutral because the BDA isn't going to do anything about counteracting the cheap $169 HD-DVD players they will hit this Holiday season, hence, a lot will sell and WB will see this and say "Let's stay neutral for the time being".

Default BD+ Cracked by Slysoft

http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/11641.cfm

I understand movie studios needs to protect content, but I've also had a couple of DVD's in the past that I purchased that would not play on my Sony DVD player because the disc was riddled with some new copy protection. It's unfortunate that piracy exists which causes these extra methods to be invoked. But, as the link suggests, where there's a will, there's a way... (sigh)

Here's the thread on this news:

Be warned, if you venture into that area, it has spawned a lot of joke threads so don't take everything you read seriously.

I thought BD+ was able to learn these techniques and evolve around them?

It seems like there might be a third option here, that they would switch to HDDVD.

I knew this was going to happen. I was hoping it would take a while. Is Blu-ray going to loose Fox support again?

If I'm correct, Movie Studios can implement a new BD+ protection system for the next batch of movies meaning they would be back to square 1

I completely agree. And honestly, Warner staying neutral is a hell of a lot better than them taking a bribe ala Paramount. That said, it sure would bring HD DVD to it's knees if they were to go Blu exclusive.

APEX DVD player sold at Wal-Mart on Black Friday for below $100. The rest is history.

I'm a little bit leery of "psx3man". The only people that still call the PS3 a PSX3 are pretty much Sony/PS3/Blu-ray haters (long story, based on pigheadedness regarding incorrect information on the PSX name). Those familiar with DeadmeatGA on AVS can begin groaning now. Other clues?
  • K-Mart is very, very far from being the "largest retailer" of anything, let alone Blu-ray.
  • The top retailers are Best Buy, Wal-mart, Amazon, Circuit City, and Target and their attendant website.
  • The "end of Blu-ray!" bit seems like the fake concern I see elsewhere from HD DVD fanboys.
It doesn't help that he/she hasn't made a lot of posts, and those posts are the kind of fluff that seems like they're faking enthusiasm while making BD fans look bad (grammar/spelling, for instance). Grain of salt on this one.

yeah, i read about this. Sont just needs to bite the bullet and sell the BDP-S1 for 200-300. I dont think they NEED to, but I believe it will help.

Not sure about the stay neutral part. It looks to me Warner is tired of supporting two format. Strategic investment could go only this far for a certain content delivery method.

Quote from http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/...2bb7aed90a45d6

"A Warner source said the studio is watching what happens now that Wal-Mart and other big retailers are selling entry-level Toshiba HD DVD players for less than $200, about half what the cheapest Blu-ray player costs. If there is a significant spike in HD DVD software sales, the studio may cast its lot with that format, whereas if there is no real impact, Warner may go Blu-ray only."

It is very clear. Warner will support the one who could achieve volume business first. If HD DVD could not achieve that with <$200 player, than nothing else will help Microshiba. Warner will simply dump red and go blu exclusive.

precisely. and on the flip side if bluray software/hardware sales don't really increase much in Q4 but HDDVD standalones absolutely take off they might dump blu and go red exclusive.

They still sell the PS3 and actual BD movies though. Just not standalone BD players.

K Mart would be the smallest and biggest piece of shit, or maybe tied with Wal Mart.
