My guess is they will stay neutral because the BDA isn't going to do anything about counteracting the cheap $169 HD-DVD players they will hit this Holiday season, hence, a lot will sell and WB will see this and say "Let's stay neutral for the time being". |

I understand movie studios needs to protect content, but I've also had a couple of DVD's in the past that I purchased that would not play on my Sony DVD player because the disc was riddled with some new copy protection. It's unfortunate that piracy exists which causes these extra methods to be invoked. But, as the link suggests, where there's a will, there's a way... (sigh) |

Here's the thread on this news:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=21877 Be warned, if you venture into that area, it has spawned a lot of joke threads so don't take everything you read seriously. |

I thought BD+ was able to learn these techniques and evolve around them?

If I'm correct, Movie Studios can implement a new BD+ protection system for the next batch of movies meaning they would be back to square 1

I'm a little bit leery of "psx3man". The only people that still call the PS3 a PSX3 are pretty much Sony/PS3/Blu-ray haters (long story, based on pigheadedness regarding incorrect information on the PSX name). Those familiar with DeadmeatGA on AVS can begin groaning now. Other clues?

yeah, i read about this. Sont just needs to bite the bullet and sell the BDP-S1 for 200-300. I dont think they NEED to, but I believe it will help.

Not sure about the stay neutral part. It looks to me Warner is tired of supporting two format. Strategic investment could go only this far for a certain content delivery method. Quote from http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/...2bb7aed90a45d6 "A Warner source said the studio is watching what happens now that Wal-Mart and other big retailers are selling entry-level Toshiba HD DVD players for less than $200, about half what the cheapest Blu-ray player costs. If there is a significant spike in HD DVD software sales, the studio may cast its lot with that format, whereas if there is no real impact, Warner may go Blu-ray only." It is very clear. Warner will support the one who could achieve volume business first. If HD DVD could not achieve that with <$200 player, than nothing else will help Microshiba. Warner will simply dump red and go blu exclusive. |

precisely. and on the flip side if bluray software/hardware sales don't really increase much in Q4 but HDDVD standalones absolutely take off they might dump blu and go red exclusive.
