Maybe you guys got a crap version of Netflix, because my Netflix doesn't have 80% DTV or foreign movies (which I find hilarious that you're lumping in with DTV)

I can barely find ANYTHING that's not pure dtv or bottom barrell titles (except some of their new deals with lionsgate and paramount), and by foreign films I mean foreign garbage horror flicks that just tend to be churned out by the gallon

But the majority of new, and catalog title blu-ray releases, will have lossless audio, and special features, so that's 2 advantages over Netflix. There's nothing like having the blu-ray disc(s), the original cover artwork, and the case. For those, who love and collect slipcovers, they're not available through Netflix.

I got rid of my netflix account about 2 years ago because I find their streaming selection very limited. People always keep telling me though how it has gotten so much better in the selection department, yet every time I go to someone's house who has netflix and I check for movies I would want to check out and they are never available for streaming. Granted I like a lot of older stuff but that is my whole issue with netflix, not enough to my liking.

Netflix is great for checking out things that you aren't sure if you want to buy, or just browsing when you don't feel like watching anything in your collection. Ownership is enough of a draw for physical copies for me, personally.

I'm not worried and VUDU's HDX titles look better than Netfilx HD titles.

I dunno man - don't get me wrong, I probably would put the amount of good movies at the same level as you if I took an extensive look at it, but as far as percentage I'd have to agree with others, mainly because these days any incompetent jackass with a camera and delusions of grandeur can and will make a movie, and if it costs them little enough to host, netflix may very well put it up. Since cameras aren't that expensive (especially if you don't care if it looks like crap), this increases the amount of crap out there.

I'm definitely not denying that there's a good deal of crap, I just don't think it's 80% of the content. As i mentioned, I primarily use it to watch TV shows, as I don't watch movies as much as I used to, but I've never had a hard time finding something to watch on there, and I've never been inclined to settle for a DTV title or anything.

I'll agree with others that Netflix will need to increase the amount of new releases they put in the streaming collection, or people will always just look at it more for the TV stuff than anything else.

ok, I was counting tv AND the crap as counting for 80%, the over 20% is decent to good MOVIES.

Hey, if you enjoy picture quality over the actual substance in a film, then I guess make the switch to exclusively watch Netflix.

If I invite friends over to watch a movie that I have to stream, I am at the mercy of the internet working properly, not slugging along, and any other problems that might arise due to poor internet connection.

Aren't we, the Blu-ray enthusiasts, who are anal about PQ and AQ?
