I love something tangible that I can hold in my hand, I have subscribed to Netflix the quality was not there. The 1080i or 720p you get on most TV, puts Netflix to shame. Plus the Canadian Netflix sucks and Neflix only has a certain number of movies or show on it at one time hardly any of which I wanted to watch, I'll stick to renting and buying Blu-rays or DVD's.

If I own something (blu-ray, dvd, hell, I still have VHS), Netflix can't decide to stop making it available to me because it isn't popular enough. They can pump out whatever mainstream garbage they care to spew. If I have the physical copy, I'll watch it when I want, not when they say I can.

I was in the break room at work today and overheard some people talking about Monsters University, and one guy said that he downloaded it. I really wanted to go smack him upside the head.

It's pretty logical that films and tv are eventually going to show up on smartwatches. I'm pretty sure it's already being discussed. Now, if young people are watching media on their smartphone and smartwatches are targeted at that demographic, then a scenario where people are walking around with a fully functional smartphone on their wrist is a strong possibility. If they take off like that industry hopes they do then what are those people going to watch YouTube, Netflix on? The smartwatch while outside, Maybe the tablet will become their 'big screen' for the living room. Will the younger generation care that the screen is so tiny? Probably not. I don't get why people think that is so unrealistic. I'm not talking now, I'm talking when smartwatches become powerful enough to handle g.p.s, storage, calls and everything else without looking like a 90's reject. In other words flexible screens with 2 inch screens. The majority of older people will be squinting just to see it but older people have never been the target have they?
Follow the streaming path and that's where it's heading. As for Skynet, I have no idea what you are talking about.

Free speech. I am not being threatening or abusive in any way shape or form. I am also not being rude to any other forum members. Merely pointing out the "rules" of the thread that have been pointed out before, and trying to keep the thread from getting sidetracked.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying they are the same, one can obviously have a party with no family members. And obviously at a funeral one can have a family gathering without it being a party. But if you are eating , drinking, having a good time.... with family members or none-relatives does it really matter?

lol. every trailer?

1) you do realize the OP was about a lot of films disappearing from the streaming list and not just one relatively bad title

2) you do realize the OP paid for the subscription and is PO because of the bait and switch, did you have to pay for this BD 6 years ago and every month after that?

Party I class as friends and food and drink with music etc..

Family gathering I class as days out, getting together for watching football matches in home cinema, film nights as my sister and my nephews love films as well. Also birthdays, Christmas etc.. I love and cherish my family and those times are very precious.

What I need to get across Anthony is my personality. When I do things with friends it's dining out, cinema, theatre. I am not a party person. As I mentioned earlier, I am introverted. That doesn't mean I am shy, I am not. It doesn't mean I am anti social because I am most certainly not. It doesn't mean I don't enjoy spending times with friends. What it does mean, is I am not very good at small talk as I tend to think about the bigger issues. I get bored in a conversation very quickly if the talk is mundane. I can only tolerate so much time in people's company before I need my own space. Finally I am extremely comfortable in my own company. That is an introvert as far as I am concerned. Obviously that won't be the case for every person but it's true for me. I mention all this as people normally (IMO) misunderstand the meaning. It might also explain why my views might be a bit abrupt. I don't mean any offence when I express my concerns for the future of home cinema. I do however, believe there is some logic in what I say. Rest assured, the reason I joined this site is because of my love for bluray. I need to stop overthinking things I guess.

Not only that, if you have no love for Blu-ray you're not welcome on this forum!

The rule "If your only purpose on this forum is to question Blu-ray as a format and bringing negativity to the forum, then you are not welcome." has been here as long as I have.

Default TWIMC: Digital Playground cutting back on Blu-ray, focusing on digital

For those who care, I just read this on the FSK18 section of Bluray-disc.de. They are reporting that as of March 2014, Digital Playground is scaling back physical media to two titles per month (only one of which will be Blu-ray) to focus on a new digital service. Previously, it looks like they were putting out Blu-ray titles about once a week, which is actually shocking to me.

You need to be registered and cleared for the FSK18 section to see the article, which is located here.

I guess this is probably the death knell for American porn on Blu-ray (Japanese titles seem to be booming, though...). Serves them all right, as they really screwed up with the format, and shot themselves in the foot by putting all of their content on the internet.

I'd love to know, as NBC reports that we have 4K porn, just how they are going to continuously deliver anything near 4K quality without Blu-ray or 4K optical media.

why "friends" and not just "people". For example, many years ago I was visiting relatives in an other country, one day my cousin was going to go to a celebration at a friends house with many more people ,food, drink and music and his friend told him he could bring me along. Except for my cousin everyone else (including the host) was a total stranger to me so in your view was that a party or not? I would definitely call it a party but it appears that for you if there is more than just friends it is not. That is what I don't get. For me a bunch of people that get together to celebrate something is a party and so Christmas and Easter and New years..... are all parties, just that in some of those cases most of the people are related to me. The reality is I don't remember if I ever had a party at my place where I did not have relatives (why not invite my sisters and their families if I have friends and their families).

Thanks.
I use a PS3 to watch blu-rays, and yes, I have been stung by things like firmware updates. Fortunately there are ways around online updates. I believe it involved using a computer to load said update onto a memory stick via the Sony website -- it was all outlined on the site, and came off with surprising ease. I could be wrong, but I believe it was MGM's Chuck Norris catalog titles (of all things!) that first prompted that awful "Your system is no longer the shit" message.

It's only happened once or twice so far; after more than five years, it's hardly worth complaining about.

I do not. With so much free on the internet why would anyone pay for it, physical or non-physical? The only audience that I can think of would be folks with low speed or no internet service. They would probably be content with a DVD version anyway.

So IMHO, if they stopped all BD production there would be no loss!!

Plus with something as popular as the PS3 after the update is made available to the public Sony's support is unnecessary. If Sony's website goes down there are plenty of other websites that provide the firmware updates (you can even get old ones that Sony no longer offers).
