Except for my cousin everyone else (including the host) was a total stranger to me so in your view was that a party or not? I would definitely call it a party but it appears that for you if there is more than just friends it is not. That is what I don't get. For me a bunch of people that get together to celebrate something is a party and so Christmas and Easter and New years..... are all parties, just that in some of those cases most of the people are related to me. The reality is I don't remember if I ever had a party at my place where I did not have relatives (why not invite my sisters and their families if I have friends and their families).
I don't spend time with people I don't know. Already explained I'm an introvert. I have a handful of very close friends who I trust but I am just not a party person Anthony. I have zero interest in meeting new people. Not everyone has to be a social, disco dancing, fun loving, outgoing, grooving, loved by the world individual. Oh, and I'm not on Facebook either. I don't need to have made-up friends to feel loved (many do, IMO). I don't know what type of person you are Anthony? Maybe somewhere in the middle like a lot of people. You seem to struggle (IMO) to understand where I am coming from. Anyway, I am what I am, nothing really to add to this conversation.

I am as introverted as they come and I could have easily written your previous post, if it matters. The strangers was not that important, it was a simple example that happened to me 20 years ago and I tagged along to the "party" because my cousin was going there and he did not want to leave me alone with my aunt and uncle.

This discussion started off because I said people still need/use speakers for parties and you said who still has them, so I said everyone I know, (which you did not like) and added examples like Christmas (given that it just past)..... and you said those are family gatherings and not parties. Does it really matter if this Christmas most were related to me except for a couple of friends and some of my BILs parents? Isn't the people, food, drink , music, movie watching, good time that makes it a party?

No. I had a good time visiting the Lake District with my family, but it wasn't a party.
I cooked an evening meal for my family, it wasn't a party.
I had my folks over for Christmas, it wasn't a party.
My friend came over to watch Man Of Steel on the big screen. It wasn't a party.

that mught be true, but what does that have to do with anything. I can give countless examples that are not parties. No one said they party every day or every cisit is a party.

I am just trying to understand what you mean by parties. Is it that it needs to be like a Hollywood movie/TV show where it is a teen that has several hundred people there and only knows very few of them where people take turns going to the bedrooms or is it that you just don't have parties and you don't realize that most people do have them even once they have grown up.

ALL gay slurs censored from films.

MAYBE a good idea to keep physical copies...
You also forgot to mention directors going back tinkering with their films and ruining our childhood memories...

I guess this is probably the death knell for American porn on Blu-ray (Japanese titles seem to be booming, though...). Serves them all right, as they really screwed up with the format, and shot themselves in the foot by putting all of their content on the internet.

I'd love to know, as NBC reports that we have 4K porn, just how they are going to continuously deliver anything near 4K quality without Blu-ray or 4K optical media.
Digital Playground sucks anyways. Oh look, another title with Jesse Jane on the cover. Boring.

Besides, as much as I love the genre, I'm not sure that 4k porn is a good thing...

I feel like I'm on the witness stand lol. I just don't call those things parties. Not saying I am right. Film night, having friends over for a meal or family gathering. A Party to me is something you go to when you are a child. Like I said it's just my world, not saying you are wrong Anthony. I don't do social gatherings if I can help it, except family. I like peace and quiet. The friends I do have are the type of people who don't intrude my space. They understand me lol.

Ha ha. Yeah, I don't need to see ingrown hairs, stretch marks and cosmetic surgery scars I'd inevitably see on a 4k screen to get the desired effect.

Standard definition does the job fine for me.

It's looking inevitable that streaming is next. It hurts me to say it but it is what it is. I only hope a high end option will remain download wise. The last streamed movie I watched couldn't even handle motion. Everything was juddery.
Let's just see how long bluray hangs on. So far this year it seems to be taking a hammering. I think it's only been up YOY once this year with the rest negative. IMO, a really bad start to 2014. It will struggle to show any growth now.

I wonder how long we can continue watching blurays once new films aren't released on the format. I am hoping at least fifteen years!

If you mean players, there is such an immense saturation of discs (DVD included) on the market, that demand for players will be sufficient to warrant new player production through even your lifetime. So I wouldn't worry about it.

It's not so much that as the fear that some protocol may be put on future TV sets that doesn't permit HDMI connections. In other words consumers forced to use streaming or downloaded services only through some hdmi Ethernet connection or similar.

On top of that I am praying TV sets will still be around or the bluray thing is irrelevant lol.

I disagree, streaming is here, has been here and will remain here for sometime. IMO, streaming is not a competitor for physical media. Regardless of what Hastings says, streaming (notably SVOD, i.e., Netflix, Amazon, Redbox Instant, etc.) is a direct competitor to the MCVP’s. If you want to watch any content with any real value then you must purchase or rent (physical or electronic) that content. The electronic content seems to be working fairly well for Apple (65% market share?) but all the rest has to divide up the remaining 35%.

The fact that Blu-ray is down YoY for 2014 is easy, very few titles released this year that anyone wants to purchase.

A recent survey showed that 55% had no interest in UHD unless it was available via their pay TV provider and the other 45% had no interest in UHD unless it was available via physical disc.

IMO, the content owners has devalued their product to the point that they need to adjust the price of their Blu-ray titles. The days of large volume of 20 to 30 dollar title sales are gone and never to return.
