No, we're talking about the demand for televisions and your belief that this demand will simply evaporate.
And all the different ways people use their televisions are relevant to that discussion. Sports is a huge market and people like watching sports on big screens. There's no way around that. |

For instance, if one of them read this and smacked me in the head I'm pretty sure I would feel it. In fact, I'm quite sure. Those considerations might make digital files stored in one way more appealing or desirable than digital files stored in some other but that has nothing to with whether one set of digital files is more real or tangible than the other. |

Can you make a back up of a blu-ray? Not legally. Can you play it on a non-HDCP compliant display (not really a problem these days, but was a big one for me early on in the format's life)? Not legally. Can you skip the menus, or copy it to your phone to watch on that? Not legally. And so on. What you can legally do with your blu-ray is play it in a blu-ray player. |

With digital, you buy from Apple, you have to play it on Apple. If you buy on UV, there are only a handful of placed that support the format. Amazon, Vudu, Apple, etc all cannot be played on the same platform. There is no digital standard. It's a mess. It is worse that the format war. One day you may need separate set top boxes for Apple, Amazon, Vudu, Netflix, etc. Amazon just anounced they will stop selling Apple TVs and Chromecast in a push to force people to use Amazon digital service. While I prefer physical, digital could be way more successful, if they actually tried. In a sense, it is a good thing for people who prefer physical. |

If you absolutely must own a film, blu-Ray is currently your best option, but I don't see much of a reason to have a huge collection anymore |

I think it's fine to continue to buy blu-ray, because I'm not planning on getting a 4K TV for at least five years.
