What younger people say is a lot different to what they do. Netflix, snapchat etc is the Kool aid at the moment. Millenials are obsessed with being one of the faces and appearing to be cool. This generation more than any other in history IMO, are self obsessed brats. They could really really benefit from national service. Don't forget, this generation (Millenials) have avoided any major conflicts and are incredibly self centred in the main.

It is safe to say they probably watch internet porn, they probably watch co fort tv or films from their childhood also and they wouldn't really broadcast that fact.
Of course, there are kind hearted, caring young people, many people. But as a whole, it's all about me, me me.

How could they not grow up with it? Everyone and their wife has a DVD player. You would have to be 10 or under yo never have seen one.

It's 2016. If you were born in 2000 and would be 8 years-old in 2008, when streaming services like Netflix really started taking off. They of course are aware of DVD and Blu-ray, but they've grown up in an age where millions of hours of content are available at the click of a button and have become accustomed to that. Put yourself in their shoes and identify with them instead of passing judgement.

I'm 39 and unless a movie shows up on Netflix or Hulu, I don't actively seek it out anymore. I'll see it when I see it.

Odd statement. So you have fallen out of love with movies? You have a large collection.

I've sold all of them aside from maybe 2 dozen. I just prefer the ease of finding something on the streaming services than having a huge collection collecting dust. If I come across a movie I truly love, I may buy it on disc one day, but the time of blind buying or owning everything I slightly enjoyed are definitely over.

I still miss my wall of movies sometimes, but my views on owning stuff have just changed

Oh I forgot we do still have probably 100 Disney/kid's titles that my wife won't let me sell, even though she and my 8 year old haven't touched them in years it seems. She even borrowed Game of Thrones from a friend to watch and it's sat there on the shelf for 3-4 months now. But she does watch shows on streaming services everyday. Mostly on her phone. My kid isn't really interested in anything that's not YouTube [emoji58]

Far more likely to see a concert than buy an album, so yes they (we) still do. I think the logic is paying for the live experience, while they can listen for free on Spotify.

You can love film without owning hundreds of discs and preferring streaming.

Perhaps, but I view the streaming services are potentially to movies as "channel surfing" is to TV. I.e. just browsing to find something random to watch - something to fill your "free time", rather than truly loving or appreciating movies. It's far less likely such viewers are getting into a specific director, or watching a particular set of older movies with some motivation.

That being said, you can probably aquire most movies online now (even if the services are somewhat disjointed in their offerings). There's even an abundance of movies available online that are still pending for blu-ray. So for people that care to seek them out, the same movies should be ultimatelyavailable.

I'm OK with Netflix for random stuff. I just have a big problem paying $10 or $20 to "own" something only digitally online.

Do they hold their phones up for the duration, thinking they have to "get this" in order to truly experience the concert? Cuz I've never understood that.

Then don't...and leave the people who do to their own preferences.

It's mad. It's not even something you can watch back later given it'll just be a blur of jumping pixels and bass.

This is one of the reasons why I don't take a lot of pictures when I travel and go on vacation. It's nice to look at your pictures years from now and look back at the memories, but it's hard to truly enjoy the moment when you are fussing around taking pictures all the time.

And no one ever watches those videos back. Ever!

Isn't it better to live in the moment and witness stuff through your actual eyes? Especially knowing you'll never watch that video of ______ live in concert from your phone!!!!???
