Well ive kind of championed the "watch out" for HD-DVD thing because I believe and have said all along that I thought a sub $200 players was "key". I have no intention of swaying anyone to HD-DVD rather Im trying to get people to start *****ing more about the price of Blu-Ray players so the format we like will actually win. The Blu-Nazi's seem to think Blu is unbeatable and we need to lose this attitude. I've said all along that this is a marathon, not a sprint. Believe it or not but the HD-DVD camp is playing for the marathon now by selling cheap players at Christmas. Some say it's a desperate move, I say it is really smart and could be a turning point. BDA needs to counter now!! Those who think that something like a $100-$200 player won't hurt Blu are nuts because 6 mos from now things could look quite different....hope not but it surely could!

i agree with you, if only they had transformers every week. and warner bros decision may very well tip the scales for whoever they side with. but dont think that every day they are offered a nice.. oh i dont know, 150 million or so dollars, just to throw a number out there, to come to the red side. not saying they will take it, but if we know that, toshiba knows that. (that=warner could end the "war".) hell, the price drop may even be in response to their statement.

So you buy a player because it was a hundred or two hundred bucks. The same player that you wouldn't have bought if it was a hundred or two hundred bucks more expensive.

And now what?

Are you seriously going to be able to afford enough HD DVD titles (remember, lots of them are combos, and combos are pricier than Blu-rays) to make a dent in the overall software sales?

I didn't think so.

If anything, this increase in HD DVD player base will change only one thing -- their beloved attach rate, and for the worse, at that.

$399 PS3 will blow HD-DUD players out of the water for 4th quarter sales. BLU will eventually win and we will all look back and laugh at Toshiba's last desperate attempt to win.

Yeah, I kind of thought you had to have a bit of enthusiasm for....or I guess against(Damned HD-DVD Fanboys) something to spend the time to sign up for a forum and check it from time to time. So maybe I'm a bit over the edge with my whole..."buy blu or buy nothing" philosophy...but gosh darn it I care.

Actually I WILL agree with that Therickus, if Warner Bros. goes exclusively Blu, the all bets are off but I bet ol' Bill Gates will do everything in his power to prevent that from happening. If Warner goes Blu, then it's done IMO but if not and HD-DVD continues to sell very cheap hardware marketed to the masses at Wal-Mart, look for a big change.

its the same cockiness that has Sony selling dismal amounts of PS3's and MSoft wiping them all over the floor with 360 sales. (PS3<360<Wii, i know, dont start wii praising because i fail to mention them, its just that Sony and MSoft are the main two rivals here in my analogy) cockiness will kill a company/format.

It's so funny, you say ANYTHING negative against Blu and you are automatically a HD-DVD fan boy. They act just like the HD-DVD fanboys who when you criticize HD-DVD call you a Blu fanboy. Totally retarded and homerish. Don't you think the below term fits all these Fanboy types?

From urbandictionary.com:

homer (n)

Someone who shows blind loyalty to a team or organization, typically ignoring any shortcomings or faults they have.

"That guy is a total Broncos homer, they haven't done anything good all season!"

PERFECT example. The Wii. It's cheap inferior to the PS3 but you know what? It sells like a M'fer!!!! Ignorance is bliss to the average consumer.

and once again, the logic goes out the window. i thought for a second there, you would surprise me with intelligent rapport. but let me break it down for you again....

I am a damn smart consumer. I look for deals. i love sales and cant afford full price every time i buy something. you know how i found this site? a link on google that mentioned a sale on blu rays. i didnt type in "I am a sheep for blu rays. please take me to a site for like minded sheep." i signed up originally to ask a question about a sale because i was having trouble getting it to work. and i never knew the extent of the fanboyism here until someone was bashed for making a highly intelligent shopping choice. yes, its bluray.com, shut it already, i know. you think i accidentally typed it in wrong? I KNOW ALREADY. i own blu rays, and want more, thats why i like this site. good deals are hard to find on your own, the power of many shopping for deals is way better. thats why im a member. not to praise sony and lube myself up for them.

Because I'm an educated early adopter of technology with means so I started Blu and havent seen the need to get anything else YET....doesn't mean I won't buy HD-DVD in the future. I like to buy all technology I can get my hands on.

We are here at www.blu-ray.com. Check out the link....it's sweet. Now, it just seems that you are trying to sell out bluray, based on the fact that the players cost more. We are here, and obviously don't care that there is a real cheap HD DVD player, because we are at https://www.blu-ray.com. Thats really all I am trying to say. Maybe I'm a sheep or whatever barn yard animal you want to throw out there. (We are going back to the car thing)If you really liked BMWs, but a car came out that didn't look as nice, had worse speakers, and didn't have as much power....would you not save up a little longer so you could get what you really wanted?

you make it seem as if BD and HDDVD dont do the same thing. they both give me 1080p movie playback and great sound. if they were cars, this would be a more proper analogy- I want a bmw that costs 30k. but there is a mercedes that looks exactly the same, just a different emblem on it. it runs the same, looks the same, hell, it even burns gas the same. only thing is it is 20k. what would the average person, as well as myself, do? id buy the mercedes.

but here is where i currently am in a cars only world. i have the 30k bmw, tricked it out and invested into it to make it worth 50k. (spent double on movies than my ps3 already.) that same mercedes just dropped down to 10k (take the k off and add a 0 to each number and you have the current player situation! wow!) but i dont want to sell my tricked out ride for the other one. however, if a friend came up to me with that new mercedes and wanted to go for a ride in it, id probably say this, "DAMN! thats a badass car. how much did you pay? really? 10k! thats frickin awesome! i want one too, but im happy with my current car, so ill stay with it. however, that does not mean i hate your car. why? because its still a damn good car and it was damn cheap."

theres a proper analogy. you make hd-dvd sound similar to a laserdisc. biased sheep. (im adding an adjective with each sheepish reply)

Quick question....Do you then believe that Bluray and HD-DVD are the same thing...just in different packages? And...just for fun....how many HD-DVDs come with PCM sound?
