Because you'll be helping to drag this war out for longer than necessary. You do realise that those HD DVD exclusive movies you want so badly will be available on Blu-ray when the war is over, right? Why waste cash on them, when you can be helping Blu, and then buy those movies next year (or the year after)?

Thumbs up Hd Dvd Player With 10 Free Hd Dvds!

Ok, first of all I know this is bluray.com and this website is for bluray users.
I have a Bluray player and currently own about 25 Bluray dvds but, I have to let people know about this deal.

I was just at Bestbuy earlier today 11/4, and bought a HD DVD player for $199 with 10 FREE HD DVDS!
Thats right 10 FREE HD DVDS!

This is how it works, you purchase a Toshiba A3 for $199 and you get 2 free dvds in the box. Then they let you pick 3 more dvds from the store, any 3 that are under $35 each. (I got Transformers, V for Vendetta, and Batman Begins) This will include just about everything except tv shows and movie trilogies. So thats 5 dvds there, then you get a mail in rebate for 5 more dvds. The dvds you get to pick in the mail in rebate are not great but atleast they are free.
So basically you go and spend like $212 with tax and get 10 movies and a HD player.
I also purchased a 2 year warranty which I probably wont have to use but, I got it anyways, it was $20 for 2 years. The total with tax was around $231

The model of the dvd player is a Toshiba A3.
They were all out of the player but they ordered it and they said it will be there in 4 days. Can't wait!

Please don't post anything that says you are stupid for purchasing a HD DVD player because Bluray is going to win. Even if that happens, and it probably will, I will have 10 HD DVDs for $231 and thats about $23 for a DVD which is about what it would have cost to get 10 Bluray dvds anyways.

It's people like this that extend the format war in my opinion. I'm glad you felt you got a good deal though.

Personally, I wont do anything that makes this format war go on any longer. In fact, I'll be sure to buy more and more blu-ray to combat your purchase.

Although I can see it is a good deal, but to me, this will help Toshiba prolong the war ever longer and the growth of the HI-DEF market as a whole will suffer.

Why is this even on this site? It appears that there have been a few too many HD DVD hardware posts over the last week. I myself don't really see the need for a post like this trying to entice Blu ray supporters to buy into the other format. Why...Why...Why???

I think you should be posting on AVS or hddvd.org or other.

PLEASE REFRAIN FROM ADVERTISING SH*T LIKE THIS ON BLU-RAY.COM. The HD DVD camp is desperate enough to create these 'irresistable' deals that will not only screw new HDM consumers out of their hard earned money, but will also play the psychological warfare angle with those of us who are loyal to our army.

I paid $99 for an HD-A3 with 9 Free HD-DVD's at Best Buy. The bar has been set low, I would never pay more now for HD DVD.
