I'm ready for this "paranormal" era in horror to be over. It's beyond stale at this point.

I'd like to see slashers or creature features make a return. I'm just happy that torture porn is over. That was an awful era.

Purge was something new and fresh. I'm looking forward to the next one. Love the tone of the Purge movies.

Yeah, the first Purge was alright but I really liked the second one more. Zombie movies/shows are overplayed just like the exorcism films. Personally I got bored of slasher films years ago.

I want some actual monster movies. Or something a bit dark and twisted, like Hellraiser(surprise, surprise :P). That's what needs to happen more actually, is adaptations of Clive Barker's work as well as H.P. Lovecraft.

Yeah, the PA series needs to die. As for your question, I would say the majority have either been mediocre or just straight up bad.

If the films are based on more cases that the Warren's story, I'm all for it. But I really loved the first as it is, I would much rather it be left alone...But that's just me.

Well it happens in the originally documented story. To not have included it would have just been daft.

Yes because Hollywood scripts are so faithful to original stories

Truth is, the other poster is right: These paranormal horror movies are bland and unoriginal. Hopefully this will be one of the last for a while.

All horror films are cliche. Slashers and found footage especially.

It's probably the BIGGEST part of the story. Leaving it out would be like doing a Lizzie Borden film and not having the axe.

The opening of this movie deals with the DeFeos who were the family in the Amityville house and were murdered by their son. So they are somehow connecting the end of the last movie with the beginning of this one. In real life the Warrens had never met the DeFeos, only the Lutzes, so obviously the movie is going to be taking some dramatic license with the story.

[Show spoiler]Lorraine has always insisted that when they held the seance at 112 Ocean Avenue, that she encountered the spirit of Butch. Which makes absolutely no sense as he is still alive to this very day. You can sum it up to the Warrens being frauds.

The Warrens are just two more in a long line of individuals who have a vested financial interest in perpetuating the Amityville Horror hoax. There are a lot of people who made a lot of blood money off of the DeFeo murders. That having been said, their hoaxes make some great stories. Hopefully they do the Smurl family for The Conjuring 3 (previously depicted in the semi-decent early 90s TV film "The Haunted")
The Haunting In Connecticut was based off another one of their frauds as well, though their roles were eliminated from the film.

Saw the trailer before The Revenant. The guy jumping out was extremely loud. I hope thats just for the trailer. The first one didn't have any jump scares like that.
