Since Bainbridge's_Stache hasn't posted next week's BBY ad in the Hot Deals thread yet, I figured I'd go ahead and show this.

I believe that FS in Canada is getting the same release. Supposedly (according to confirmation in the FS Forums) it's 3D only. That means it's just 4 discs so it might be a slim (Not Jumbo like the UK version could be) release. J-card on BBY page just says Blu-ray 3D and UV DC. The other two discs are bonus content I believe

I went ahead and ordered it for In-Store pickup. I'll check and see if they grabbed the right thing and hopefully can pick up the steel (if it really came in and not a Jumbo) and there are still some around.

That's a good idea. I might switch my 3D statue edition to the 2D(much better coverart), and get this for the 3D.

It's def. a crap shoot!! What's worse is when they haven't even picked it up yet even though you get the email that it's ready.

My store's manager and I know each other way to well because of all the in-store pickup issues I've had in the past.

As long as Wal-mart continues releasing the digibooks of the movies, I'm going Digibooks for the Theatrical, and Steelbooks/Statue Editions for the Extended.

Since there are no 2D discs in the steelbook, easy pass for me
I'm going to buy White House Down from Target instead.

I'm trying to pick up every Target digibook release, minus the disney ones, they just don't do it for me, and I'm sure I'll get this Hobbit edition, I mean I bought Les Miserables because it came in a steelbook. I did pass on the LOTR steels though, but I knew they were they were crappy releases with matte finish and no interior atrwork

If they released LOTR EE steelbooks with this artwork and some actual interior art, I'd buy them in a heartbeat for about any price.

Same here, and Statue editions from Amazon if they keep them going.

It doesn't exactly list the steelbook as extended edition.

The gold lettering above The Hobbit says Extended Edition. It's clearer here.

Great, Just got through ordering it, now the only problem is deciding if should I keep my Amazon.com 3D version if perhaps the steelbook doesn't come with all the discs that the standard 3D version has.

I wasn't planning on buying the extended edition since I got the UK SteelBook of the theatrical cut.

But I know I'm weak-willed when it comes to Steelbooks.

It says "Extended Edition" right above "The Hobbit" on the cover. It's just blurry, but it looks like the ones other countries are getting.

While the ad says "3D + Blu Ray + UV", the cover just says "3D + UV"...which scares me.
