No. Koch Lorber (which was previous known as Fox Lorber) became Entertainment One.

That's a drag, but I was expecting it. Oh well, that's a pass for this lot then as I'm not getting into having to have a multi-region player. Maybe a company in Europe will release them.

Exactly the same for me.

Some of them will likely turn up in Europe or Australia on Blu Ray at a later date (I hope).

Looking at the database, it appears to be a mixed bag. Most seem to be "Region A,B (C untested)". Others are described as "Region free".

It may well be that MGM (or Fox) is requiring the Studio Classics to be Region A locked.

I wonder how long Kino plan to keep up the 8 releases a month schedule? Looking forward to some horror titles in September and October.

Well, that is some good news. I'll just have to check around for the titles I'm interesting in and if they are Region B friendly, I'm in.

They will most likely be released on blu-ray in Europe someday, but every serious movie collector should have a region free blu-ray player. A movie collector without a region free blu-ray player,is like a prostitute without a vag... You know.

As Kino Lorber seem to be releasing classics from the United Artists library dating from the late 50's and early 60's, I hope they will soon get around to titles such as:-

Irma La Douce
Kiss Me, Stupid
Birdman Of Alcatraz
I Want To Live!
The Defiant Ones

Well I wouldn't have put it quite like that, but I know what you mean. I had a few multi-region DVD players, but when I got into Blu-ray I decided not to go down that route. I have been buying discs from all over the world with no problems (only this week, The Wind & The Lion & McLintock arrived from America), & I'm only interested in two Lober titles, What's New Pussycat & The Private Life Of Sherlock Holmes, & I'm sure both these titles will be released in Europe before too long.

Some serious movie collectors (and I consider myself one such) simply don't have the money. Region-free players are cheap enough, but it's spending money on importing a lot of discs that's the problem. From the time I bought my first DVD player circa 2000, I'd been region free and importing discs from the UK, Australia, and Japan until I couldn't afford to anymore. While I have the desire to so the same with Blu-ray, I don't have the available funds. I have to be a lot pickier about the Blu-rays I buy than I was DVDs. Not being region-free actually helps with that.

I just watched The Children's Hour for the first time. Such an emotional, gut-wrenching, powerful film with amazing performances, particularly Shirley MacLaine who is Oscar-worthy. Will be sure to add this one to my collection, and I'm looking forward to Mr. Majestyk and The Unforgiven (the former is on my DVR).

No, not really. It's like me saying you're not a serious movie collector if you don't have a theater to view your movies like I have.

KINO is really delivering nicely. There's 5 or 6 titles I'll definitely purchase.

+1 on using poster art for covers. Love it!

You do realize that there's such a thing as male prostitues, right?

I'm absolutely salivating over the original poster art that Kino is using for all of these titles. I LOVE old school movie posters that use painted artwork, they're so appealing and often make the film seem much cooler than it is. Today's posters are bland in comparison and don't get me started on those photoshop abominations used by the studios for their Blu-ray and DVD releases.
