IMAGES is no longer with MGM. The rights went back to the producers. I hope they release BUFFALO BILL AND THE INDIANS.

Oh, yeah! I need this on blu! It doesn't even have a DVD! I saw it on TV when I was like 11 or 12. I've seen it since... Without TV edits mind you... And it was still fun to watch. Watching the mom freak out as she begins to understand is awesome.

Whether or not Criterion has a light November in the way of announcements, you do realize, don't you, that November should be Barnes & Nobles' next 50%-off-Criterions sale?

Ohhh I know. But even still, August-October are costly Criterion months. Every little bit helps, haha.

FYI. Pocketful of Miracles is a remake of Capra's own Lady for a Day. The original looks more interesting. I recall seeing Pocketful of Miracles on TV years ago, and I also recall it being rather syrupy, even for Capra.

I wonder if KL Studio Classics will now go into hibernation for December with no new releases until January.....Olive did the same thing in 2012 during their first year of releasing blu-rays at a similar blistering pace when Frank Tarzi was with them.

U.S. distributors Kino Video have confirmed that they will release on Blu-ray Frank Capra's Pocketful of Miracles (1961), starring Glenn Ford, Bette Davis, Hope Lange, Arthur O'Connell, Peter Falk, Ann-Margret, Sheldon Leonard, and Edward Everett Horton. The release is expected to arrive on the U.S. market on November 18th.

Synopsis: Superbly directed by the peerless Frank Capra, this remake of Lady for a Day is pure Hollywood magic - an unforgettable combination of comedy, whimsy and romance that was nominated for three Oscars!

Impoverished Broadway peddler "Apple Annie" (Bette Davis) has a problem. Her daughter Louise (Ann-Margret), educated abroad since infancy, is coming for a visit and bringing her wealthy fiancee with her. The problem is that Louise has believed all her life that Annie's a wealthy dowager, and the poor old women doesn't know what to do! Enter "Dave the Dude" (Glenn Ford) - a big-hearted racketeer - who enlists the aid to pass Annie off as a high-society grande dame so Louise can marry her fairy-tale prince and everyone can live happily ever after!

Pocketful is very disappointing, partially because of the disputes between Glenn Ford (who helped bankroll the picture) and Capra show in the clumsy pacing band slightly off performances, partially because Davis makes the main character so unnecessarily unpleasant at times. The original is much less bloated and studiobound, as well as much more fun, and it's one of the finest Blu-ray restorations of a Thirties film I've ever seen on Blu-ray, and deserving of a lot more attention than it got.

Used to. He hightailed it to the Home Theater Forum. Touchy fellow - we're not missing much, trust me

That wasn't really the problem - he was just always on the defensive about everything. He's still the same way on HTF.

I am shocked at the score for The Children's Hour on the site review. 2.5/5? I know, opinions and all, I just don't want others who haven't seen it to be discouraged by it. It's a terrific film.

Who cares about the 2.5 rating ? I think its a great film and if you do too dont let it deter you. For those curious about it, Id say rent it - of course peoples tastes are different, but its a classic with excellent acting and story.

Just what I said, it's a surprisingly low score for a great movie, and I hope that doesn't put off anyone to seeing the film, whether renting or even recording on the DVR. Of course it won't deter me? I'll certainly buy it as I watched it a few months ago and it was fantastic, and the Blu-ray looks to have solid technical merits. But yes, to anyone new to the film, at least give it a watch.

Btw, does anyone else think Kino's Blu-rays should be cheaper, for being practically bare bones and receiving no restoration work?

They are cheaper when compared to Olive Films 27.98 online price for their blu ray titles with zero extras

If you actually read JMK's comments regarding the movie, rather than just go by the 2.5 rating, you might understand why he doesn't give the film a higher rating. Like you, I don't agree with his opinion, but I do understand where he's coming from.

I think pretty much everyone thinks they should be cheaper. But this has been a sore point with respect to Kino even back in the DVD days.
