I love realism....in the right places. I LOVE the 24p look that movies have and I'll never stop loving it, but I've also resorted to using motion interpolation on a handful of films because it really seems to jive with the source material, creating more temporal smoothness without egregious motion artefacts.

Yes, since frames are invented with motion estimation, artifacts can be produced which, unfortunately, have the potential to degrade the imagery. Which is why for the study it was a pleasure to see the extra value of native HFR shot content as displayed on the MikroM, (click on the 'professional displays' hyperlink here…. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...d#post12290748....55" size was used.

Speaking of monitors, this was used in the editing suite for 6 Below….

the 4K DCP was screened in Spielberg’s theater at Amblin Entertainment.

For those who are not subscribers, it still makes me wince to read the last paragraph of that Dec. issue AC magazine article…”Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk has been released in 24-fps, 60-fps and 120-fps versions.”

Yes, clearly the article was put to bed a while before release and it wasn't updated. Fascinating article nonetheless.

Sometimes I wish you lived in SoCal so you could easily drive to these conferences. Reminder to those who ride the cutting edge is that today is last chance for discounted early registration to arguably the best industry retreat/conference there is….http://www.hollywoodprofessionalasso...page_id=152702 (as a bonus, the event hotel is always pet friendly )

Where not only is there the opportunity to network with other thought leaders and doers in person, but also you’ll learn things waaay ahead of industry publications, for example –

No, I am not sleeping. But it was common that Passengers was a 4K finished film. Sony listed the film back in the Summer on their website.

I also shared the final info here:

Just checking , too many threads for me to keep up with.

I’m also liberal with submitting accurate detail specific DCI/DCP info onto other threads, e.g.….https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...i#post12841617 , when it arguably would be equally suited for distribution on thee o-fficial 4K Movies Releases thread here, but what the hell, when I’m feeling dynamic, I just keep typing away.

Did you notice the movie Fences got a rather uncommon SMPTE DCP? On that note, in an effort to provide more nuanced information that is not common knowledge…. 59% of all the SMPTE Digital Cinema Standards have not made their way into the marketplace!

Most of that 59% define SMPTE DCP, which by any measure, has not been successful in replacing interop DCP which is the package you’ve been posting for various movies over the years….on whatever thread. We (as an industry) should do better than that.

You must have sneezed as you were typing, because uhd-bd printed out as dvd, so "bless you!".

Give Pacific Rim in 4K a spin. It's one of the best uhd show pieces so far.

Unless you have a tv with good black levels, I'd skip pacific rim and go with Ghostbusters 2016. It's sharper and has better colors. Though the full screen aspect ratio is nice.
