I can tell a diff and prefer the tv do it on my setup.
I've been using the Samsung for over 2 years and it's been solid but I might buy this unit at this price with the DV update, seems pretty future proof. Does it have a good info screen? |

Hmm. I was just playing a stereo SACD yesterday (exported as DSD) and something strange happened. The disc would play, but the player had no on-screen display at all. Disc would not eject. I eventually had to unplug the player and tried it again. Disc ejected, but when I attempted to play it a second time, I got playback that sounded digital and stuttered. It ejected okay this time. There WAS a bit of lint on the disc (not on the area that was being played, though). I tried it one more time...and it played perfectly with no issues. I have only had the X700 for one week, so I can return it if I need to. I've had no other problems at all...but that worried me. Anyone else experience anything like this? Would you guys recommend swapping it out for another one? I'm hoping I'm just worried about nothing, and I might very well get one that DOES have a larger issue. I've been unable to replicate the problem since.

I’m using this player with the Sony A1E OLED and am noticing raised black levels at certain points in Gladiator in Dolby Vision mode. Chapter 25 and the end credits are particularly problematic. Looks like my old HDR lcd!
Anyone else with this player/tv combo (or any Sony Dolby Vision tv for that matter) noticing this? |

I'm running Sony x700 using two HDMI cables.
Took a while and doing different things to get the DV Badge on my LG OLED. The x700 Audio HDMI cable is going to a Atmos Onkyo AVR which have no HDR, no DV passthru. Got it to quit blinking off, on video to the OLED. By setting for no audio out on x700 Audio/Video hdmi port. Which on the OLED HDMI port needed set for Deep Color. Of cource x700 settings to DV on. And x700 Audio set to enhance off( for getting Atmos), ie., Setup-> Audio Settings -> Digital Music Enhancer Off. The problem Im having is the x700 DV Atmos VUDU App. I getting Vudu's Atmos to the AVR and Atmos speakers ok. Getting X700 VUDU App DV to the OLED ok. Whats not working: Pressing x700 remote's enter while watching UHD DV Vudu movie then pressing grid jump to other points of the movie ONLY takes me back to movies beginning. Press Vudu's advance arrow forward also ONLY takes me back to movie's beginning. Pressing x700 next chapter ONLY takes me back to movies beginning. Anyone on this forum experienced the same thing? Are there settings anywhere to fix this? I'll try the x700 one HDMI Cable out method next to my Sony AVR which do have DV and HDR passthru. Have to study think appropiate x700, AVR settings first. As I jump from 2 or 3 x700 vudu movies to 1 or 2 movies on x700 Netflix... I'm getting lots OLED Full scrern flashes. And or severe pixelizations. Granted. Pulling x700 AC plug helps corrects this somewhat often. Anyone on this forum knows a x700 settings correction? Or do we wait for future firmware updates.
Man. X700 Vudu App Atmos is awesome. Anyone knows if its Lossy or Non-Lossy Atmos? |

Have'nt had time to check out info/Display screens. Only the menu parameters select, check screens.
My priorty is to Stop OLED screen flashes when going from one movie to another. I have good HDMI cables so I don't they are the causes. Regards x700 video settings. I set resolution to 4K, not auto(and why not, forced DV gotta be 4k?). I also did that auto 2 thing. Will have to try other video settings? But in the duration of a movie playing its fine. Switching between movies, programs it goes crazy. And the OLED screen can also Black out for many many seconds Last edited by E6AtmosVuduDV; 06-15-2018 at 03:45 PM. Reason: Finishing |

You guys that have the Sony x700 disc player connected to a Sony DV TV... are you having any of the problems I'm experiencing with the player connected to a LG DV E6 TV?
Now even when I press the Home button on the remote... My OLED screen is not stable. Flashes. Goes Dark. Puts out intermitten severe pixelization. Which makes making setup changes extremely difficult. Taking Resoultion off 4k. Making it Auto do not help. Last edited by E6AtmosVuduDV; 06-15-2018 at 04:56 PM. |

I got my x700 yesterday and am pretty impressed so far, it will supplement my LG 870. I have them connected to my Onkyo NR656 with HDR & DV and Atmos & DTS:X support, then to my 65" Sony 850E with HDR but no DV support.
As I live in the boonies with crapola internet (1.5mbps down is about it) I had downloaded the latest X700 firmware and updated the player via USB and it went fast & easy. I've never had a player with so many user configurable settings, impressive. I set HDR to Auto and Dolby Vision On and 4k to Auto1, I have a Panny standard BD player I used for 1080p BDs and prefer my 850E to upscale them to 4k. With a non-DV display I had no "forced DV" issues. I watched Valerian UHD on it, a recent purchase, I'd only watched the 1080p rental BD previously. A silly movie IMHO, but pure eye & ear candy in UHD. I stopped it a couple times to turn DV off & on in the player and couldn't see any difference so the x700 is just giving me the HDR. Played perfectly, the X700 is a keeper. ![]() I won't use any apps on the player, with such poor internet I rarely stream, I do a couple months of Sling in the fall to supplement my broadcast TV by antenna with Sling's ESPN for better college football, and my 850E w/Android has the Sling app. One minor annoyance: when I turn the X700 off it switches my 850E from HDMI input to the tuner for broadcast antenna TV, I think I need to dig deeper into the settings to find a "leave my Sony TV alone!" setting. ![]() Last edited by The Duke; 06-15-2018 at 06:07 PM. |

Not having the setup menu's stable for more than a couple seconds blows me out of the water. Interesting when I press x700 remote to off shutdown... My OLED screen still flashes for a minute or two after x700 green light goes off. This is just not a Happy Situation. Last edited by E6AtmosVuduDV; 06-15-2018 at 06:21 PM. Reason: Finishing |

Popped in Fury HDR10 Disc to the x700.
Watched with Forced DV Yes. And Forced DV No. Forced DV looks really good on the E6 OLED. But it was a Bear to switch DV off and on. For Home Button screen with settings button was always flashing off to dark screen or other crazy screen stuff. So why can we watch forced DV Fury movie ok without crazy screen flashes, dark screens. With forced DV? But not the Home screen or settings screens???? Onto E6 OLED. Is this a Sony Disc player Low Latency DV issue. Since the LG OLED has Full DV and Sony DV TVs has Low Latency? Will a FW fix come from LG TV or Sony Disc Player? Or both needed? Last edited by E6AtmosVuduDV; 06-15-2018 at 08:41 PM. Reason: Finishing |

I realize you're still playing around with settings on your new player, but normally you wouldn't go into Home screen/settings after a movie starts. And if you press the Options button on the remote (lower right of the navigation toggle buttons) it displays an on screen settings menu where you can change some options for video and audio. |

Plugging in x700 ac cord. Home menu screen stable.
Going to Setup screen its stable. With HDR out Auto DV Out on Output Resolution Auto 4k upscale Auto2. Then click VUDU App. Half way entering email and passwoord the OLED Screen goes severely crazy. So can't complete the vudu sign in. So then click Home on remote. Seems stable. So click Crackle which is a Sony Network App. Intro screen stable 30 seconds. Then goes Crazy. Blinking off on. Pixelization. Dark screens. Totally useless. Then click Home. Open disc tray. Put in DV Tomb Raider with Alicia W. Hit play. TV DV Badge pops out on screen. Then click remotes Home button. Screen goes CRAZY with home icons in background. And then even locks up for 30 seconds with pixelization screen. Then LG OLED screen goes crazy again. Now I can't even Eject out my DV Disc. So I pulled x700 AC cord. Waited 10 seconds. Reconnect AC Cord. Now Sony's x700 Home screen with icons displays on LG OLED all crazy, flashes, Pixelizations, etc etc Im giving up. After the DV update I can no longer switch between using the player with my 4K TV and 1080p 3D projector. Used to be able to just switch which HDMI out to use on my A/V Receiver and the player would switch resolutions since all the settings are on auto. Now the screen just flickers.

AirMax on his 2017 LG OLED actually had 4K Disc movie fliker off on. Whats the forum experience by Sony OLEDs vs Sony LED DV TV's? I know the Sony A1e has the LG OLED Panel. Last edited by E6AtmosVuduDV; 06-17-2018 at 04:38 PM. Reason: Finishing |

Having the same pan l does not mean they have the same video quality. The video processor is much better on the Sony than the LG. Even my Panasonic OLED still have less powerful video processor than the Sony (but more accurate post calibrated colours than the Sony)
