Is there any chance someone can help me out with this machine. Recently acquired the 4k player, plugged into the new 4k tv with the required hdmi cable. I've also got my older home theatre system. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to like the 7.1 audio tracks.
The video is fine, looks fantastic in fact. But the audio on Blade Runner, Mission Impossible Rogue Nation and a couple of others have had stuttering audio, distortion or drop outs. I assume they're not compatible with the older home theatre but I'm a bit of a noob at these things. Blade Runner sounds wonderful on the other languages in 5.1, but the English 7.1 just wants to make it die. Been looking to see if I can downmix the audio, but it doesn't seem to be the case. It's 7.1 or stereo. I'm a bit confused, stressed out and stuck lol. Help? |

6.1 and 5.1 film soundtracks play beautifully, it's only the 7.1 Dolby Atmos things that have issues. I feel like an useless idiot lol. ![]() Edit: I literally tried everything and it just wasn't having it. I'm guessing the fact I can't directly link it to the home theatre is the issue. I took down my xbox and plugged it in. Plays 4k perfectly fine so I'm refunding this 4k player and sticking with the console haha. Last edited by Spud_Almighty; 08-27-2021 at 09:55 PM. |

Good to see Sony's entry level 4K Blu-ray player get a firmware update also. It should be mentioned that on 8-23-2021 all Sony 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray players received a firmware update that can be installed by ethernet, WI-FI, or USB stick. However ethernet is the fastest and most reliable method to install the firmware update.

Your player might need a factory reset to clear up the problem or repair. I know the Sony UBP-X700 is a entry level 4K player, but that is not normal for movies to get stuck after 2 hours. My family members 4 year old year 2017 Sony UBP-X800 players have been flawless with no problems when playing optical discs.

I have 12 BD-100 UHDs and have had issues with Interstellar, Ready Player One, and Mortal Engines on my UBP-X700.
Interstellar froze about halfway in but I was able to restart it and resume with no other problems. I played it again a few days ago and didn't see that issue again. With Ready Player One the movie basically skipped for about a minute and then continued afterwards like normal. My Mortal Engines disc was purchased used so it may have been related to that but there was a stretch of maybe 10 minutes near the end that was unwatchable so I had to skip over it. The picture was basically frozen but the player still responded at least. I will play it again soon to see if I have the same problem but I didn't notice any blemishes or damage on the disc. |

If one wants Dolby Vision support, then UBP-X800M2. It has similar metal build of the UBP-X800. |

I haven't had any freezes yet. I just wish the player would detect Dolby Vision automatically. Few days ago I forgot it on and watched Hollow Man on normal Blu-ray. I later noticed that I had left it on. No wonder why the colors looked a bit odd.
