I guess i got lucky with mine. Bought it just over 3 years ago from Walmart and it's be flawless. Only issue i had was it turned on by itself one day and i had to unplug it and change a setting. It's been a great player for me.

Thanks, Darev. I've had this player for about 2.5 years and never had any freezing until the past few weeks (both new SF UHD discs, "The Fog" and the PC of "Halloween 6"). I reproduced the freeze on different days for the Producer's Cut of H6 (both occurred at the same time in the movie). So I thought, what the hell, I'll try these setting changes even though I can't imagine how they could possibly make a difference. Lo and behold both movies played from beginning to end with no freezes.

I just want to add on to say that this player is dog crap. I think maybe I got through a movie once without it freezing and having to reset the damn thing. It has completely turned me off to 4k discs. As I bought another player to replace it and that skips to. Combined with my crappy TCL tv flashing and ghosting, I have just given up on physical media. I remember a time when electronics would just work.

I bought this player last year at Black Friday on sale from Amazon. I picked this player because 1) Sony products have been very good for me in the past and 2) the online reviews for this player were good.
But add me to the list of those for whom this player is a problem. Every single 4K movie no matter what the studio has locked up on me at some point in this player. For Blu-rays it’s worked just fine…up until last night when I put in the Revenge/Creature Walks Blu-ray. The menu screen for the disc appeared and then dropped out to the TV stand-by screen. Had to shut the player off and turn it back on to get the disc menu to reappear again. First time that’s happened. I’d be interested in the settings suggestions Darev posted but for some reason that post is showing up as a blank post for me. I figured I’ll just have to put up with this player for a couple of years and then buy a new one that works properly. Very frustrating as I’m not sure how to pick a player in the future if I can’t rely on reviews or past experience with a brand. |

Also ghosting happens if your 4k tv doesn't support hdr but the player having hdr output set to auto. Turn hdr to off if tv doesn't support it. Just my suggestion. |

Ugh..could someone repost the settings for this player. Mine freezes and I wanted to see if this actually works. But the post isn't showing them.

Hello,
I’m having an issue with audio with this player. I have a c2 and a lg spm7a soundbar. I have the soundbar connected to the tv via the earc input. I have an Xbox series x on port 3 and the Sony player on port 4. I can get atmos and audio from the Xbox perfectly fine. But no audio from the Sony player. I did try to connect the Sony to the bar, but I don’t get a video signal from the arc port I out channel (2). Any help is appreciated. Also, would I lose any picture quality by routing the 4k player through the soundbar? |
