Trying to play Arrow's new The Warriors 4K but it's not reading the disc. The machine becomes very loud and it just says this. Does anyone know what this means? The Director's Cut disc plays fine. It's the Theatrical Cut disc that's not working.

Well, after 2 players under separate brands, wiping discs, changing player settings 1600 times. Doing dances to the gods. I think I am throwing in the towel. I got Titanic 4k. Collectors edition,no less. Popped it into the x700. At 2 hours and 12 minutes,it froze for a minute and then booted me back to the main menu. After years of trying, I am giving up. Regardless of the reasons this happens, I cannot recommend this format to anyone. I love physical media. And I tried everything I could. But I just can't get anything to work.

The Sony UBP-X700/M Blu-ray player is notorious for wrapping non DV Blu-ray content in Dolby Vision when Dolby Vision Output is On. I am wondering if the player actually uses the Dolby Vision information on a DV disc or if it is simply reading the non-DV HDR10 content and wrapping that in DV to output to the TV. Would there be any good test to run to discover if this is the case?

Does Cinema Conversion Mode do anything? As long as I have "24p Output" set to On/Auto, every disc outputs in 24p. When "24p Output" is Off, every disc outputs in 60p. Based on the description, I would expect Cinema Conversion Mode to play a role in deciding whether to output in 24p or 60p.

I have to say that this is not one of Sony's better 4K Blu Ray players it's completely useless I'm always having problems with both 4K and regular Blu Ray's not playing in this. It's the most terrible 4K Blu Ray player ever developed by Sony. People stay away from this garbage.

I've had mine for three years, and it's never given me any problems (knock on wood). I can't complain.

Is there a way to disable the automatic HDR to SDR conversion that occurs when the device is connected to a non-HDR supported device? I have the player outputting to a HDMI splitter that supports HDR10 and DV, and when it's only outputting to my LG-C1, everything's good. But when I add the non-HDR device to Output #2 from the splitter, the X700 activates the HDR to SDR conversion, meaning I lose HDR on the LG-C1 as well. The second device is feeding it's signal into a capture card in a PC where I can handle the HDR to SDR conversion there myself, ideally.
I also posted this over on the AVS forums as it's a really specific question and I'm doubting it's possible, but fingers crossed. |

Simply type in any one of these brands 4k player model numbers in a Google search. And the word freeze. Every single one of them has issues.

You definitely got a lemon I would try another unit, either that or you need to clean/check your UHD discs for scratches more thoroughly. Panasonics don't choke on layer changes because they don't have that design flaw.

I've watched 25 100GB discs on a X700 since I got it a couple of months ago and never had a problem on any of them

I installed my new Vizio M-series 2.1 soundbar today. If I want to play a 4K UHD disc that features Dolby Atmos, do I connect the UBP-X700's audio-only HDMI cable directly to the soundbar or will the video/audio HDMI cable connected directly to the TV suffice? I have the soundbar connected to the TV using eARC. Also, are there any specific settings I need to play around with on the player to get Dolby Atmos?
