Default Playback Issues!?!?

Quick question....I have watched about 10 UHD movies now on this player. On two occasions now (Blade Runner:The Final Cut and Batman vs Superman:Ultimate Edition) my player had paused for about 3 seconds in each movie! I'm assuming that it's when the player changes layers on the disc. Has anyone else had this issue? And before someone suggests it...yes I have the latest firmware on the player. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Both are Warner Bros titles, one is a BD-100 and the other not.
No UHD machine is perfect, none will play all the discs perfectly all the time.
Not all the UHD Blu-ray discs are perfect, some are more fussy than others.

The batches of UHD players and UHD BR discs are not all controlled for their quality. ...QC
And no two people have the exact same gear and setup.

Other owners of the Sony X700 player have experienced similar issues to yours with other UHD Blu-ray titles. It happens with other brand players too. With time they're going to get better @ it.

Just my take on this relatively new format with new 4K players and discs.

Agreed. Thanks for the answer...and it's not a deal-breaker or anything...just a slight pause. Hopefully they will fix it with a firmware update in the near future.

Does this player have a problem with the discs freezing or any other issues? I am thinking about buying it or waiting for a price drop on the Sony UBP-X800 as I do not need dolby vision since my tv only does HDR and will not be getting any kind of update.

Yes mine freezes on UHD disc. Can this be fixed through a firmware update or do I need to get it replaced? Thanks, Jerry

I have another question.....Hi,
When playing a disc in HDR, will it show anywhere on the screen HDR, because I'm not seeing it? My settings are maxed out so I know its playing 4k. My Samsung did show on the screen HDR. Do I have a setting wrong?

Thanks, Jerry

Press the 'display' button on the remote, it'll show the resolution, frame rate and SDR/HDR in the top left corner e.g. 4K/24 HDR.

Mine does not show HDR, it did then now its not. Did a factory reset as per Sony Support, that did not help. Same disc plays on my Samsung UHD TV and Blu-ray, so I know it's not the disc. Any suggestions would be appreciated?

Thanks, Jerry

Change the HDMI cable, or try a different HDMI port on the TV?

Hi, just got off the phone with Sony tier 2 support. They said hitting the display button on the remote will not show HDR. But if you hit action menu then picture adjustments it will show there at the top. Can you please confirm this on yours or anybody else reading this please confirm? She says all new Sony TV’s and blu-ray players do this.
Thank again for all your help.

My apologies, I thought that the X700's display screen would be the same as the X800's, like in my photo below (IGNORE the stuff on the right as that's an overlay from my TV's menu). You can clearly see that it sez 'HDR' over to the left there.

I have the X700....and that’s exactly how my screen looks when I push the display button. Top left corner says 4K/24 HDR

Sony needs to get a clue...spent over a hour and she tells me there's no HDR when you hit the info or display button. Yours shows HDR correct when you hit the info button?
Thanks

When you follow these instructions, yes it shows HDR at the top just like in Geoff's photo.

No, it does not say HDR when you hit the display button on the television remote. However, if you are watching a movie on a Sony player and hit the 'display' button on the player remote it will say '4K HDR'.

If I had to guess what your problem is, its that you haven't enabled HDR on your display. You gotta go into the TV settings and enable HDR mode. The default setting is 'off'

Home --> scroll down to 'settings' --> External Inputs --> HDMI signal format --> check box for HDR.

did that help?

It was already was setup correctly thank you. Guessing it’s bad Blu-ray player, do you agree? I’m sure it used to say that HDR and Sony said no.
Thanks

Just reset the player and it now shows HDR. Thanks again

Best Buy online has 3515 confirmed buyer's review for the Sony x800. Its been in the stores for one year.

Sony x700 been in Best Buys for a month and a half. It has 15 confirmed buyer's review(from world-wide?). Thats like 10 a month.

Is this because of x700's small case footprint?

Is it because x700 did'nt throw in 2 free 4K UHD Disc?

Peoples not sure if x700 will play DV Disc on non-Sony DV TV's?

Un-popular hand remote, too small buttons or pushes funny?
