I decided to get the 700, even though I just bought the 800 back in Jan. I wanted to be able to view the DV from the discs. So I bought the 700 about a month ago. So far no issues with it. I'm going to either move the 800 to my bedroom or sale it.

i am confused with your post (no criticism implied/intended)
clarifying? :: if original full profile, then both the display/player have to support 'full profile' clarifying? :: if low-latency profile, then both the display/player have to support 'low-latency profile' important? :: you cannot mix them, if either display/player does not have the 'same' profile supported, then it will not work - simple enough? LG UBK90 :: if you're interested in Dolby Vision (quite affordable & best available picture quality - Dolby Vision out-of-the-box); i highly recommend consideration of this player (at this point in time) :: easy to use and reliable
note :: thank you (E6AtmosVuduDV) for the model number correction (originally i had it incorrect - dumb mistake on my part) note (E6AtmosVuduDV) :: while i am not currently 100% certain, it seems that the Dolby Vision (profiles) are incompatible (player/display) - (what do you think?) - (what display(s) are/were you using it on? - i have forgotten what displays you have) Last edited by jibucha; 07-01-2018 at 04:55 AM. |

suggestion? :: get the LG UBK90? :: remarkable picture quality, out-of-the-box Dolby Vision, without any issues - currently, as far as i know :: and, LG-to-LG should be a good fit?
by the way; nice display note :: thank you (E6AtmosVuduDV) for the model number correction (originally i had it incorrect - dumb mistake on my part) Quote:

On Sony DV TV's. Low Latency DV is supported there. TV Does as miniumum DV as just needed. The brunt work is done by the x700 disc player. So by my terminology... the x700 does FULL DV. The Sony DV TV do not do FULL DV. Which is why Sony DV TV is referred to as Low Latency DV Profile. On LG DV players it does minimum DV processing. It sends this minimum DV processed to the LG DV OLED. At this LG TV it does Full DV processing. Sony DV TV does low latency DV. X700 don't. It does full DV. Note the word profile was not used. After IFA 2018 September. If any Sony DV TV's becomes having Full DV processed. Then even the LG UP970, UBK90 can play DV disc onto those Sony DV TV thats no longer emcumbered with low latency DV. Will Sony x700 need any modification after IFA 2018? Thats a good question. I've read x700 reviews, forum posts indicating x700 set on DV switch, set off DV switch is not very popular. Is this player region free for blu-ray? and do you still have to manually toggle to dolby vision? I've been trying to decide between this and the LG UP970--it needs to have DV and upscale regular blu-rays to 4K. Just got a Sony X900F 65" 4K TV and I need to know if the Dolby Vision will actually be up to snuff.
I would have much rather preferred to have gotten a new Sony console that does all this but they've certainly dropped the ball with the PS4 Pro in that department. Last edited by VIDEOgameDROME; 07-01-2018 at 03:09 AM. |

question (Sony UBP-X700) :: does anyone know (for certain) whether the Sony UBP-X700 supports both Dolby Vision profiles (original full profile & low-latency profile)?
meaning :: will Dolby Vision work on an LG OLED that supports Dolby Vision (i have simply forgot and need to refresh my memory) please :: only respond if you know for a fact and have personally confirmed, one way or the other - ok? thank you Last edited by jibucha; 07-01-2018 at 04:39 AM. |

i disagree (entirely) & (quite a confusing 'explanation/understanding' - as i perceive it)
Dolby Vision (original full profile) :: must be available on both display/player Dolby Vision (low-latency profile) :: must be available on both display/player they are incompatible and will not work together (original full profile & low-latency profile) unless both the display/or/player independently support 'both profiles' - they will not work together specifically, the player (universally with 'all' Dolby Vision displays) unless 'it' supports both profiles, then it does not matter which display (profile) is available so :: unless the UBP-X700 supports both profiles (original full profile & low-latency profile) it will only work with Sony displays :: if it does work (for example) with LG OLED's then it would have to have support for both profiles (simple enough?) My post #786 above. Playing two DV Disc movies with Sony x700 onto my LG E6 OLED. No black screen. If I recalled correctly. From x700... DV disc played onto my LG G6 OLED too. However the G6 will not display Sony x700 main/setup menu with apps icons, etc. Just displays a black dark screen. After just waiting a few minutes the DV Movies pops over the black screen amd proceeds to play the Movie Last edited by E6AtmosVuduDV; 07-01-2018 at 05:33 AM. Reason: Finishing |

My post #731 above. Playing DV Disc with x700 onto LG E6 OLED. X700 HDR setting on auto. X700 setting... set DV on! Doing that... the LG OLED DV Badge pops out on the top right of TV Screen. I believe when at x700 settings... when I did "set DV off" then the HDR Badge popped up on my LG OLED Screen. This happens playing DV Disc on the x700 Last edited by E6AtmosVuduDV; 07-01-2018 at 05:34 AM. Reason: Finishing |

You might see https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnarc...-oppo-respond/ Sony DV TV's do light DV processing. LG DV TVs do Heavy DV processing. _________________ https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnarc...bit-of-a-mess/ _________________ Quote:
