Watched mission impossible 1-4. Each one froze at a similar point. Seemed like a glitch at first but then a patten by the time the 4th did it. I watched 5 with no problems. I really hope that is the sign of a new pattern, but my mathematical side says yeah right haha.

And Vudu and Netflix both stream 4k/UHD with HDR? Was I reading the x800 only has HDR for YouTube? If they do that then I'm sold I think.

My opinion is , buy a disc player to play disc. By a streaming devise to stream....

I like theRoku Ultra 4k we have, Plays the 4K/HDR from several apps that offer it.

In my experience, every blueray player I've owned has had real buggy streaming.

In theory that would work. However I only have one available outlet, after already expanding my outlet with a surge, and I use a harmony ultimate one remote for everything. Roku does not use IR so they cannot be programmed with a universal remote.

I want one disc player, other than the Xbox one, that plays 4k discs and streams Netflix and Vudu in both 4k and HDR. Anyone?

I have the reverse experience. No BD player ever gave me any problem with streaming. In fact, my Roku Ultra is the one that freezes every so often when streaming 4K content

My harmony works just fine with Roku, but I also have the hub.
I do understand everyone's needs are different.

From what I've read , the Sony x700 streams 4K HDR from Vudu, Netflix and Amazon prime.

I have a U.S. made X700. It does NOT allow streaming with Hulu, Netflix or Amazon in South Korea. It is restricted to the country the player is made for. FYI, in case anyone else has that unusual/unique circumstance.

I can only assume it’s normal. I have an Oppo 103D frim US which won’t allow me to access Netflix in Canada. Also a couple of review samples made for the US that can’t work for me to even access Netflix Canada.

My x700 started flickering/screen turning black for a second or two repeatedly during navigating Netflix. Has anyone else had this issue? Its not my hdmi nor receiver

This is one of the issues that is driving me from the Xbox one S. Within the last week mine starts flickering when it sends HDR content to the tv. Swapped cables, bypassed receiver, checked tv and Xbox settings, HDMI port, etc. Only happens on Netflix and Vudu uhd content. Worked flawlessly for the first year and now cannot get it sorted.

I hope the 700 streams those apps in 4k then that is the device I want to get. I assume it also handles Atmos? Cheers.

Any player that can bitstream raw audio data via HDMI will work, so yes to Atmos as long as your receiver or pre-pro has an Atmos renderer onboard.

Awesome. Pretty sure this is the device for me. I looked into a roku ultra and using a USB power option but it wouldnt work. Also apparently does not support Atmos. If I can confirm (maybe via Sony directly?) that this device does stream Netflix and Vudu in both 4k and HDR then I'm going to get one. Thanks for all your feedback

I use netflix and amazon prime with 4k and HDR with this, so I'm sure vudu has it as well

Yup, the apps are 4k, HDR, and send Atmos if the 4k stream has it... albeit in lossy form.

UHD discs and Blu-ray are still your best bets for peak audio/video performance... streaming? Not so much.

I bought this a month ago and watched about 14 4K discs. Three of them were Bd100 and Dolby Vision and all froze up after 2/3 of the movie! This is really annoying and worrying as I’m afraid to watch bd100’s now. Braveheart worked fine though but I watched that in HDR only yet . Could it be Dolby vision or the BD100 causing the problem ? I tried cleaning the disc first but still happens. When it freezes I skip one chapter back and fast forward to the problematic spot and then it works and doesn’t freeze after that . Always after 2/3 of the movie, so probably going into the 3rd layer I suppose.

I've had mine for a little over a week. It's been great until yesterday. Popped in Pacific Rim in 4k and it started skipping about 10 minutes into the movie but was fine for a little bit. I stopped it 20 minutes and started it back up this morning. The player froze at the startup screen and required me to power cycle it by removing the power cord. Upon starting it up, it said there was no disc inside, had to open up the tray and close it again to get it to read.

I'm going to try more movies tonight and hopefully it doesn't happen.

The wife and I have watched Infinity War, Deadpool 2 and Hunt for Red October over the past few nights and no issues.

Return it for a new one if you have another problem. You might just have a dud.

This player is a piece of garbage. I have to unplug it and factory reset it every couple of days. I watch something then turn it off, a couple of hours later I notice the green power light is on go I try to turn it off and does not respond. I have to unplug it and do my settings all over again.

Like the poster above said, you probably just got a bad player. I've had mine for 5 months with no issues.
