Okay, so then if I set Deep Color to auto and play a UHD then it would upsample the 10-bit discs to 12-bit, is that correct?

I know I've read that some TVs struggle with receiving 12bit signals, and one of my media players has issues with this, but the TV handled the UHD disc I played last night fine with the player set to Auto. I'm using new AmazonBasics 18gbps cables.

It will play the source at it's native resolution, it will not upscale. Pretty sure only 1080p signals upscale to 4k when that setting is turned on so DVD's should not be upscaled, but not 100% sure on that one I have not played a DVD

Hi, I want buy this player but I have doubts with the following
1) This player has cinavia if I put MKV movies that I have in my external usb disc?
2) Support pass thought of Dolby Atmos by USB, MKV with HDR and Atmos.
Because I want use HDMI output to a receiver with Atmos.

Do you know a player that do what I ask..
Thank you very much.

Had some freezing with this on Saving Private Ryan around the 1:53:00 mark. It skipped ahead about a minute, let me rewind and played fine after. Curious if it’s a disc thing or a player thing? I have until January 27th to return the player if necessary, which I’d hate to do, but...

3 foot, 6 foot and 10 foot are all $2.99 and certified cables. Probably the most recommended cable I’ve seen and what I use with no issues. Doesn’t get much better or cheaper than these.

I've heard that the Sony players always upsample 10-bit UHD to 12-bit anyway, regardless of where that setting is at, but I don't know if that's true. Blus are definitely output at 8-bit with it off and 12-bit with it on, though.

But yes, you're quite correct that some TV's can choke on 12-bit 4:4:4 4K output signals because they don't have the processing power to handle it. Not that ALL content suddenly looks like crap, but stuff that's been encoded borderline for banding can look a hell of a lot worse than it actually is because the bit depth is being strangled by the processing (which makes me wonder about recent examples of banding that people have noticed on Exodus and the UK BR2049 when I've noticed no such thing).

This was quite a big thing on the UK AV Forums a couple of years back with the Panasonic players as they forced 12-bit output for UHD discs, and such was the level of complaint about banding it eventually led to Panasonic adding a 10-bit option with a firmware update.

Does this have plans for hdr10+ support?

If not what players have both Hdr10+ and Dolby vision. Around this price range? It was on sale for $150 and can wait again for it or another to go on sale too.

I don’t think any players in this price range support HDR10+. Maybe a cheaper Samsung model if any.

When they go on sale. If not it's fine. I think as long as it has Dolby vision. Was just wondering if any Dolby vision & hdr10+ ones exist.

Are the only real downside to this is that you have to manually switch Dolby Vision on and off?

So confusing.

So If I set output to 4:2:2 and disable deep color, the x700 will output 12-bit anyways?

I'm having some major issues with Dolby Vision and either my TV handles Dolby Vision extremely poorly or something's set wrong with the player. I've tried all 3 Dolby Vision modes in my TV (DV dark, DV light and DV Vivid). Dark is very dark with weak color, and vivid goes wonky - sometimes when I hit play vivid displays a decent-looking image (with some settings dialed down of course) but if I hit stop and play again, suddenly the screen is much brighter and the color is weird. DV Vivid is the only mode that seems to flip out randomly when I hit play. Both light and dark modes aren't stable either though - the brightness of the screen seems to "pop" brighter or dimmer literally shot by shot, and is very distracting - you can see the screen brighten or dim just after a shot changes, based on the scene's brightness.

HDR10 is fine in all modes and doesn't have any brightness stability issues.

Currently I'm outputting 4:4:4 with Deep Color on. I'm wondering if the 12-bit output from this player is what's messing up Dolby Vision on my TV, but that's just a guess. I'm still not sure, under which circumstances, the player is sending for bit depth, or color space for that matter.

Does anyone use it as a media player? Because i'm totally unable to enter my shared pc folders on the domestic lan with it. All the media players i own see the folders and read them with no issue, but with the x700 i see the things shared throw the lan but i keep reciving a server error when i try to access them. Any hints?

Thank you.

My LG UK6500AUA TV has 8-bit 4K 60 Hz 4:2:0 as the default setting if you have the HDMI Deep Color setting to "Off."

But if you turn "On" the HDMI Deep Color, the LG User Guide says that it Supports 3840x2160p and 4096x2160p for 50Hz, 59.94Hz and 60Hz:

8 Bit - YCbCr 4:2:0 and YCbCr 4:4:4 and RGB 4:4:4

10 Bit - YCbCr 4:2:0

12 Bit - YCbCr 4:2:0 and YCbCr 4:2:2

So, using the X700 to stream UHD 4K Blu-rays to my LG UK6500AUA, if I select AUTO, would the X700 pick the best Deep Color, or, would one of the other selections, YCbCr 4:2:2, YCbCr 4:4:4, or RGB give the better Deep Color result??

Some say, that if your LG has an Alpha Processor, that you should let the TV do the upscaling. My LG doesn't have an Alpha processor, so I chose Auto 2, to let the X700 do the upscaling...

4:2:2 and 4:4:4 aren't exclusively related to bit depth, these are two different things (chroma subsampling and bit depth).

Is anyone else having an issue with Dolby Vision all of a sudden? I didn't change my settings at all, and all of a sudden when the new year started, I have no picture when any movie plays, even with a DV 4k disc. I tried turning off the DV and then it plays?? I have the Sony UBP-700 hooked up to a VIZIO M65-E0 and was wondering if one of them lost their Dolby vision license when the new year started or something crazy like that.
