If anyone picks this up, would love to know if it gets Amazon HDR streaming.

Amazon HDR and Netflix both look great on this player.

So it does do Amazon HDR? The X800 still doesn't.

Thanks. That is crazy, the X800 spent all year with Netflix UHD/HDR and Amazon UHD/SDR and the X700 launches with Amazon HDR LMAO. These CE companies...

Weirdness... Curious about the DV update though... That was the primary reason I got this particular player. Fingers crossed.
And btw: Streaming 4K MKVs on the home network doesn't work. So using Apple TV for that.

I think it is supposed to be "summer" before the X700 gets DV.

I think that if I already had a uhd Blu-ray player then I'd probably wait.

Since you have the X800, I do see why messing with it. I just wanna check it out, and its streaming functions. Other than discs, I watch a lot of Amazon and Netflix.

I'm keeping an eye on this one but will wait for a couple reasons. I want to make sure when I decide to purchase it, that it doesn't have the same issue of this "freezing" thing that the X800 appears to have and I want the Dolby Vision upgrade to already have been released and in circulation for a while to see if there are issues with that.

if everything is kosher after a time that it appears all those issues have been resolved, then, and only then will I be ready to make a purchase.

I don't plan on buying a damn thing with the "promise" of a DV firmware upgrade that may either be delayed or never get.

again, i'll be keeping my eyes on the early adopters and their reviews.

I have to say that Amazon in particular looks great on this device. For some reason even better than Apple tv 4k...

Roku got buggy there and has been, so the last couple of years my streamer has been the Sony players. I have had the ATV4K for several months and love it, so that is interesting. One thing I do not like is the ATV takes the DV version of Netflix content and maps it to HDR10, instead of playing the HDR10 version. Not sure how I feel about that, or if they have the math right. It is a great looking device though.

I still wonder why it launches with Amazon HDR and they never added it to the X800...

Will be interesting to see how well Sony implement DV and if that improves Netflix quality I guess

Could someone who has this player, tell me how well it performs? Especially how noisy it is playing 4K UHD disc.

I have it. It's not absolutely quiet but during playback I can't hear it. It feels pretty light and cheap but video and audio quality is very good imho.

Do you have a pre-release model? I do not see the Sony UBP-X700 in stock at Sony's website or at Amazon. This was suppose to be a first quarter release around Feb or later. Where did you get your Sony UBP-X700?
