That was a known issue with lg oleds. If it goes from an extreme cut scene to scene from bright to dark etc, it does like an auto dim/brighten. I had it with my b6 oled for all dolby vision, and even some standard hdr. It’s an automatic setting not adjustable. As far as I was told. |

I haven’t noticed in cuts between dark and bright shots, there’s a scene like this in Homecoming when tony is in India and spidey’s by the river but the cuts are clean. There are non-adjustable ABL settings on all LG OLEDs which gradually dim the screen when on prolonged dark content to prevent burn in and tend to snap back to normal brightness with a bit of a delay but this isn’t that issue.
This happens when cutting between two bright shots, and it’s not dimming or anything, it just spikes in brightness on the cut itself and then returns to normal after it, it makes it look like the image flashes on. It also completely disappears when I eject and reload the disc. |

Here's a problem I noticed when using this player with Vizio TV's:
The Vizio TV's themselves have a setting for each input, where one has to turn on the advanced HRD color setting. When one does this, the ux700's menu will no longer appear on your screen. You have to keep this setting "off" if you want to see the x700's menu. The film will still play if you hit "play", but the player's X700 menu itself will not appear on screen. the screen will be blank. i'm wondering if not being able to engage this setting on the tv keeps you from getting the best HDR settings and 4:4:4, etc. Anyone know the answer ? |

I have no idea why it's doing that but can't you turn on the advanced color setting after your done in the menu?, so the movie is right. It comes up till I load the movie then i don't use it again.
Sounds like a setting you do want on tho |

I’m actually not, I was just using it as a general UHD HDR term, I don’t even know if I’m sure what 4:4:4 is lol. It doesn’t seem like I’m NOT getting HDR, and the “info” button says I am, but it makes you wonder. I also can’t wngage the “enhanced format” selection for the input on my Sony 1080 AVR , or the same thing happens. Strange. I may just give up and get the LG since I can’t afford the Panasonic. 🙄

I haven't gone through all 70 pages of this thread but I just bought the Sony UBP X700 4K Region free player from 220 Electronics and everything plays perfect except the 4K discs. The 4K discs play way too dark on my new 4K JVC 55" TV. When the disc starts to play the FBI warning it shows up bright for 1 second and then goes darker and the rest of the disc just plays way too dark. I tried the 4K Sony player on my brothers non 4K TV and it looked fine. I don't get it. It's like there must be a 4K switch on the player or TV remote that I am not pushing. Like I said, all the non 4K Blu-rays and DVD's look great. My TV and Blu-ray player have broken down in less then a month and I was hoping this would go well, but my bad luck keeps holding. The guy at 220 Electronics says he has never heard of the problem before.

Let me get this straight: TV is of low quality and it doesn’t work properly and you’re blaming the entire format? Have you tried other disc? Have you tried using your player/disc on another TV.
Whatever, your mind is already made up anyway. Gotta love when people buy cheaper stuff and it doesn’t work fabulously and blame the format. You get what you paid for. The 700 is known to have problems (although the problem is usually not recognizing discs), the TV is made by an unknown Tv company with JVC brand slapped on it. Do whatever you want. |

Let's do this - let's start with the model # of your TV first and then I would like you to post ALL of the picture settings from both your TV and player. Maybe its an issue of a setting or calibration that we can work on adjusting to see if it will work out better. The fact that you are experiencing a bright to dark shift makes me think there is something in the TV that is auto-dimming the brightness/contrast and if we can figure this out, you may see what we all see. As you can see, I own this player so I know what its capable of. |
