It's almost impressive how badly DV has been botched for physical UHD compared to digital

I apologize for taking so long to respond back. I have a lot of movies to watch and finally got around to watching The Suckling last night. Zero issues to report. No freezing or skipping on my player.

Upon googling issues with this thing, I found this trick and nothing.

Ended up shipping it out for a replacement with Sony on Tuesday and they received it today. Hopefully they can ship me a new one to have by next weekend. I have a lot of stuff I need to catch up on.

i was experiencing some freezing with my player this weekend while watching godzilla king of the monsters (uhd) and hellboy 2019 (uhd). both occurrences happened towards the end of each movie. with hellboy, it was around the 1:44:15 mark or so. i also watched ralph breaks the internet (uhd), on saturday and daredevil (dvd) on thursday/friday and experienced no issues during playback. in fact, godzilla kotm and hellboy 2019, are the only discs that have ever given me an issue with the player.

Somewhat defeats the purpose of having a UHD player.

I had to reset mine today after it kept freezing. Seem to fix it.

Question does BD-Live work for anyone else on this unit? Mine is connected to the internet, I contacted Sony they made me reset the system and everything it still wouldn’t work. They said I needed to contact bd-live support, when I asked how they said they didn’t know...

I have the internet set up, Internet setting for BD viewing is set to ON, but in the movie menu I click bd-live extras it gives me a loading icon then says make sure I’m connected to the internet. Anyone know what’s going on/how to fix this issue?

Does anyone know if or when Sony will add the Disney+ icon to its bluray players?
I do have it on my PS4

Maybe closer to when it launches?

I'm not a fan of using this player to stream anyway. So slow compared to Apple TV

BD players (Sony, LG, Pana) are not yet part of Disney+ support at launch. Perhaps in the future if they have become mainstream but nothing planned as for the time being.

Several weeks ago I tested out a number of disks with BDLive functionality and none of them work on the x700. Although they all work on my PS4. The x700 apparently does not have the data storage/memory to pull off that feature according to Sony....go figure. Mine also freezes on occasion during Netflix streaming but never on disks. The only solution is to unplug it and start over.

I just purchased this as a secondary player with some Christmas dough and after testing over 10 titles, I’ve had not a single issue in regards to disc freezes or anything of that nature. The picture quality seems to be an improvement over my XBOX ONE S.

Did I just totally luck out?

I bought mine back in July and haven't had any issues with it. I think it's a great player with a very affordable price. No complaints from me.

I needed an extra player for my guest room. Picked this one up for $108 at Target!

I was just able to get this player for $100.00 (Best Buy rewards and price match). Since I’m primarily going to stream 4K movies with my Apple TV 4K, I thought this entry level model would be perfect especially at this price for when I want to buy a disc.

Although I just watch the 4k discs on it, it supports 4k HDR on vudu so wise choice.

Sounds good! Maleficent will be my first 4K disc which I’m picking up on Tuesday when it comes out. I’m wondering if the HDMI cable I have will handle 4K. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to buy another cable - is there any way to check this prior to getting my first disc?

Someone here can correct me but I have an older hdmi cable, i believe its 1.4, but it works fine with 4k. I believe they say you just need at least a hdmi 2.0a cable or higher, but i think its not necessary.

I wanted to add more. After looking they say a newer cable, 2.0, is needed for beyond 24 fps (gaming at 60fps). So if your watching your disc in 24 fps you will be ok with the older hdmi cable.
Edit: they do say the color gamet requires a higher cable than 1.4. HDMI 1.4 limited 4K Ultra HD content to 8-bit color, though it is capable of 10- or 12-bit. I'm happy with a 1.4 hdmi cable.
