For example, I was watching Noir two weeks ago, paused the show at the start of the next episode, went to make dinner and when I came back, the player had fully shut off, so I had to reload the whole disc from scratch and select the episode I wanted to play next since it didn't memorize the last chapter I was on like the PS3 would always do. Same thing with Sailor Moon the other day and Dairanger a few days before that. |

Kaiju - go into system settings, turn auto standby to off and the X700 should remain on. Although I've never actually tested it over a lengthy period of time.
Edit: Just read on prior page that this option is only available on the European models. How strange. Last edited by SymbioticFunction; 05-31-2020 at 08:19 PM. |

Someone know if the X700 has problems sending Atmos? Or if there’s a compatibility problem with Samsung? Got a new QLED and Samsung Q70T soundbar. If the x700 is set to Auto for digital audio output, I get audio drops with Atmos discs only. PCM output or non-Atmos discs are fine. Tv Apps are all fine, even Atmos ones. If The player is plugged into the TV, audio sporadically drops on on the TV speakers with 4K discs like Star Wars ANH, Jaws, Ghostbusters, every 4K disc using Atmos. If plugged into the sound bar directly, I still get the drop outs on the bar. And the sound bar displays Dolby Atmos, like it’s restarting the sound connection. So it’s not the tv or soundbar by themselves that’s the problem. I also switched from a Rocketfish cable to a brand new Monster cable to no avail. Only thing I can think is it’s a problem with the player. There’s hardly any players on the market anymore, so a new Panasonic is my next step. I’m out of ideas.

Solved my audio drop problem with a new HDMI cable and firmware update on my bar. Now the X700 is back to totally freezing up. It did this regularly for months when I first bought it. Someone suggested keeping it disconnected from the internet. I did that, and didn’t have a single freeze for over a year. Then I start using it to output Dolby Atmos and it starts freezing again. I suspect it’s the weak power adapter that the player uses. Which is why there’s zero problems if you use it just for basic disc watching. Anything requiring more power locks it up. Ended up with the Panasonic 420 for my new set up. I’ll keep the X700 with my Sony TV in the bedroom.

I had audio drop issues with Parasite on 4K. It turns out all I had to do was set the audio output to TrueHD and that fixed the issue given the Atmos track. Never experienced that problem before until that title.

The audio output on the player or on the disc menu? I've been troubleshooting intermittent audio issues as well and would appreciate some advice. I'm also planning to try disconnecting my player from the internet to see if that resolves the issue.

In the player audio output. Set to TrueHD and that should fix the issue.

So with the freezing issues you've been having with this player, is it always in the same spot on the discs? My dad picked this player up yesterday and said he was having an issue with Infinity War 4K freezing when playing chapters 11 and 12. He could skip forward to 13 and backward to 10 and it would play fine, but no luck playing either of these two chapters. Sounds like more of a disc issue than the player to me since it's in the same spot each time, but I wanted to see what your opinions are.

![]() This glaring issue was particularly unbearable watching Long Way North, with its vast surfaces of flat colors, it completely ravaged the finesse of the movie's artstyle. Almost thought it was an encoding issue of that disc until I noticed the issue was widespread across every disc I played in the X700, including DVDs. I dread to think how many people are using Sony players and have no idea that sub-4K content is being DNR'ed to shit.

Yeah thx for that was not aware either, changed it to direct will see how things look next time I play a bluray but definitely prefer no picture processing thru the player!

Just make sure that secondary audio (though Sony call it something different now I think?) is off, and use bitstream if you're piping the audio to an AVR.

I use a Sony soundbar, an HT-Z9F. I did have secondary audio off for a while (as I do most of the enhanced settings) but it had the unwanted side effect of completely muting the odd picture-in-picture commentary, as well as any menu sound effects. Perhaps no great loss, but I turned it back on. It’s more the DTS Neo 6, Audio DRC, et al settings I’m unsure about. I’ve tried for the most unfudged sound as I have with the picture, I just want to make sure I’m getting it. You folks know a heap of a lot more about the technical side than I do.

I hate menu sound effects and if I need the PiP commentary for one of the rare times I'll indulge in such a thing then I'll just turn the secondary audio back on.
![]() Audio DRC is dynamic range control, it'll flatten the audio to make it more palatable for less well endowed audio systems. Best to turn that off so you get the 'full fat' signal. I've never actually understood what the purpose was of having Neo:6 inside the player so turn that off too. |
