So I had this player for around 2 months now, the common issue I keep getting is that the HDMI connection from the player to my sound bar (via e-arc) keeps dropping every now and then. I have to reposition the player to a “sweet spot” to bring the connection back. I noticed this mostly happens for WB and sometimes Universal 4Ks. Any other solution for this?
This is the HDMI cable I use My sound bar is the Sony HT-X9000F, if that helps. |

I have the player since june 2018 and it's a good player.
It hates WB discs and maybe once every two months my screen goes black for 5 seconds. My good ol' Sony Bravia from 2009 has the same problem for years. Must be something Sony-ish. Worst thing is the lack of updates from Sony. Maybe it's not necessary, but the apps on that thing are on the thin side. |

They're semi-useful/convenient up until the manuf. stops supporting them. Has happened on all my players/TVs. I bought a Roku Ultra and couldn't be happier. Granted that Roku has done the same thing, but as far as I'm concerned it's still much easier, if not just cost effective, to replace a streaming device.

Do you have the Roku 4K stick, or one of the 4K Roku boxes?? My neighbor has a Roku 4K stick, and I saw where it gave an on screen message that it was getting too hot. My Roku 4660 4K Ultra box has never said that. |

Hi everyone. I’ve had the subject Blu-ray player for quite some time paired with a Samsung QN55Q80T HDTV, but I’m a slacker and just now reading that my TV doesn’t support Dolby Vision. I’m just now reading through this thread a bit and some people are posting DV may or may not create issues/artifacts etc. on non-DV 4k discs, and the recommendation is to only turn DV on when watching a DV supported title. Since my TV doesn’t support DV at all should I disable Dolby Vision permanently in the settings? I assume it’s not doing anything anyway.

It won't make a difference in your case. It's my understanding that if your TV doesn't support DoVi, the player won't decode any extra DoVi pixel data (if present) - and it certainly wouldn't understand the dynamic metadata instructions, if the player even passed them on.

Back when I had a 62" Mitsubishi DLP HDTV, and a Panasonic BD Player with Streaming Apps. I could access all the Streaming Providers, they had a great selection. When I bought my Sony UHD 4k I thought I was going to use the Panasonic Streaming Apps, until I found out the Sony Android Apps were all that I needed. I still have my Panasonic BD Player connected, it's called accessing your Source Content!

I got this for Christmas 2020. My mom and stepdad got a 4K player almost three years ago, but I wanted one since I moved out.
I don't watch discs near as much as I used to. I've only used this player a few times so far since Christmas, but I'm gonna use it more again soon. It works great so far. I hate the AC adapter, though. Brick plugs are so bad. |

I have this odd situation, and I don't know if it's the players or my Sony x900f itself. And I say players, but my situation remains the same regardless of which Blu-ray or Ultra Blu-ray Player.
Whenever I set the player to run at 24p output for blu-ray discs---specifically, on Auto---, the motion becomes a bit too smooth and unnatural. When I set it to off, the discs are presented as normal. What would I miss if I keep the 24p option off? If I'm suppose to keep it on Auto, what other options should I look into to prevent the slight motion smoothing that occurs at 24p video? Last edited by Herry Dunston; 03-05-2021 at 04:56 AM. |

What is your Motion setting on the TV? I have the same tv/player combo and use True Cinema on the tv and Auto for the 24p setting on the player. Have not noticed any issue like your describing.
Here's a link to rtings.com for our tv if you want to check your settings- https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x900f/settings |
